You guys don't know this but there are 3 WC parking places at the Cards facility.

Marcus Bell used to park his SUV in one of them, hang an expired Tennessee handicap placard from the mirror and go practice. I complained to everybody that mattered. No action.

Little thing. Bothered me. I thank all of you who leave those spaces open. You cannot begin to imagine how much that helps those of us who need them. I thank you every day.

But nobody owes me anything so I shut my mouth and let it slide. Character always reveals itself.

So that explains why Madden messed up his photo on last year's game, and he still didn't learn his karmatic lesson.

If I see people like this, I try to conspicously box their cars in with shopping carts or something like that (when I see a young able bodied person park in HC area).

That sucks.

When I pick up my daughter from day care, I often see this lady park in the HC area & she's a soccer mom - mid 30s, able bodied, but thinks that the rules don't apply to her.

I had a bad day & she parked in the HC space when the lot was pretty full (there were avail spots, but you had to walk 2-3 rows over - she usually does this 1/3 of the time) so I parked in the spot to the left of the HC spot & hugged the right line, so my passenger door was like 4 inches from her driver door. She passed me in the hall entry - she was going out & I was going in.

I took my good old time picking up my daughter, talked to the day care teachers, asked the fat lady at the front desk how her day went, even strolled around the different classrooms to find my girl's sippy cup....

When I got outside a good 5-10 minutes later, she was steaming mad, yelling that she couldn't get into her van, how dare I box her in blah blah blah.

I just looked at her and said "Hmmm..that's pretty interesting. You are parked in a HC zone & you're not HC. Don't yell at me. You're the ass-hole" and I took my time, put my daughter safely in her car seat via the drivers side, got her all good & buckled in, found a good radio station, adjusted all the mirrors, fixed my hair, looked for loose change under the seat, & eventually left.

I have not seen her park in the HC space since.

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
I remember watching a live news cast from Flagstaff and in the background David Boston was getting into his Grey Hummer, while the story ended Boston drove away to reveal he was parked in a handicapped spot. The girl at the news station said to the reporter "Hey was David Boston just in that handicapped spot?" knowing clearly he was I mean you just saw him drive out of it and the reporter said "Well Im not sure we will have to investigate before we say anything" ........I just remember thinking what the hell!!!

When I was in high school I parked in a HC spot at the bank, and when I came back out to my car an old man was sitting on the hood. He explained that I wasn't handicapped and that his wife was and that they could have used the spot. He talked for about 20 minutes and made me feel horrible. He finally asked why I parked there and I told him that I was in a rush. He then mentioned that if I parked in a normal spot, I wouldn't have had him sitting on my hood and then I wouldn't have had to listen to him talk for a half-hour, so did I really save any time? I told him I understood where he was coming from.

Probably the best thing I learned while in high school, and I've never done it again.

Okay, so yesterday I didn't park in a handicapped spot, I parked in the vertical yellow stripe sections BETWEEN handicapped spots. I have seen the error of my ways and won't do it again. I just really wanted my pizza

It's funny sometimes how things can benefit more people than originally intended. The HC spaces originally intended for those in wheel chairs now provide easy access to buildings for the nations elderly.

The ramps on stairs and sidewalks also intended for those in wheel chairs have made it much easier for parents pushing strollers and those of us taking luggage to the airport or hauling one of those ice chests with wheels to the tailgate.

Turned out all the money spent on ADA Modifications was a better deal than many businesses thought.

About 10 years ago, I had to have an eye removed due to cancer. I was told I would be eligible for a handicap sticker, but I turned it down. There are people who really need those spots and using a technicality just because you're too lazy to walk a few extra feet is not my style.

y'know, i consider that a big deal. when i see someone parking in one of those spots w/o a plate i always wait to see if there is anyone gettin' outta the car that needs the spot. if not, i make certain they see my sneer.

perhaps it's b/c i fully expect to need one of the spots someday...

Yep, melanoma. I was really lucky. It's the one place you can get cancer and if it's discovered soon enough, they can remove the eye without anything spreading.

My doctor said it's a one in a million shot to have this condition. Why can't I hit odds like that with the lottery. :D
