Marion also pulled out of USA Basketball's training camp before a World Championship team was picked last summer because of a sore knee.
Don't remember that knee bothering him during the course of the season. What makes anyone think that this year is more serious?

I think he just wants the summer off.

Hehehe

Sarcasm and sports discussion go hand in hand ladies...It appears some of our fans are as soft as our team. Like it or not, MaidMarion is not a Favorite Son (Sun) to 30-40% of all fans from all these boards. His whining for attention and claims of self greatness don't sit well with everyone....Amare included. That and his Whopper paycheck and flippy jump shot. Lets just hope he recovers 100% from his hoof and mouth disease and it doesn't linger throughout the season. This is not a good sign.

Marion isn't going to be traded for anything less than KG. There just isn't a market for him that is pertinent for us. At least right now, and this article doesn't help matters.

The way I look at it is regardless of the severity of the injury, I'm glad it happened now, 3 months until the beginning of preseason games.

Personally, I think that we'll "encourage" Marion out the door next year so that we have enough cap space to sign Garnett and probably even another player with Kurt coming off the books. With all of the quality players, next year's free agency is going to be a buyer's market.

Unless they can move Diaw they still won't have anything more than the mid-level exception for KG.

Plantar fascitis normally lingers for a long time. It was announced Duncan had it the '05 just before the season started and it bothered him through the '06 playoffs.

My question to you was why you said the above when it is quite obviously only to incite others.

If you honestly can't understand the point of my post, I think further discussion is hopeless.

I must say, however, I got a kick out of Errntknght's reference to "Mike Sander."

With Marion and KT off the books, that's more than the MLE.

i'm amazed that people on this board still don't understand that the cap is much more complicated than a player's contract expiring opening up the same amount of cap space. with base year concepts, the ability to be over the cap, and escalating contracts nothing is as simple as $10million contract expiring, $10 million in cap room available.

Don't be amazed... there's a reason I always flunked math in high school. :(

lol. i don't think ANY level of math in high school or even college for that matter prepares you for capanomics. maybe some higher level PH.D mathematics programs . . .

I'd rather hear Otis Smith explain it.

In any event the salary cap is approx 56mil the Suns roster payroll is approx 76mil, KT and Marion make approx 24mil combined.

76-24=52

56-52=4

This means the Suns would be approx 4mil under the cap, which is less than the 5.5mil the MLE allows for. The cap will likely go up next year but the Suns would still only be working with MLE money.
