Kidd is a 4x allstar, 3x all-nba first teamer in a row, 2x all-nba defensive 1st team

Holds franchise records, the team won 50+ each year except in the lockout season.

He HAS to be in, in 50 years there will not be many Suns with better individual accolades than Kidd.
Trading him away was stupid, he should have been a Sun for 10+ years.

Kidd did not really have a name before the Suns. He came into his own as a Sun before he was just a good young player.

Are you kidding me? He was co-rookie of the year and was already considered special. Kidd was considered a perennial all star before the Suns traded for him. He would have been one of the hottest free agents had he finished his contract with Dallas.

Again....I don't think the Suns can afford to put an admitted wife beater in the ring of honor.

He was an incredible high school player, highly celebrated college player and co-Rookie of the Year with Grant Hill. Heck, he was even made famous for his front page clash with Jim Jackson over Toni Braxton. He clearly was a name player before he came to Phoenix. He left here with a bigger name and he continued to raise his stature beyond that in New Jersey.

Okay excuse my wording, he was not a super-star before Phoenix, he became a NBA super star while he was playing in Phoenix - 3x NBA First Team in a row - while before he never made an all-nba team.

Remember our huge/gutsy game 6 win on the road over la w/o raja.

Best part was marion being upset because tim thomas got credit for his big balls shot instead of marion getting credit for the rebound. This was of course the same year he was upset he wasn't in the mvp running.

When he was at his best he guy was one of the most exciting players I can recall. Seemingly everywhere on and above the court. His rebound and pass to Tim Thomas in game 6 vs the Lakers probably elicited as big of a reaction from me as any play in franchise history.

His ego during his last few years certainly tarnished my fondness of him but IMO he should end up in the Ring of Honor. I was too young for Connie Hawkins, so for my lifetime Marion is the greatest SF to wear a Suns uniform.

Marion also had the huge rebound on Nash's game winner in double OT

If you want to sum up a player's value with a few big moments in the playoffs, just call up Robert Horry and be done with it. I'm much more interested in the player's full career, not his personal 30-second highlight reel.

Dan Majerle was a Sun from the get go and had a pretty good career. Completely two different scenarios IMO.
That brings up another consideration, perhaps the final one.

In addition to his playing career, does a former player who might be considered have ties to the Suns now?

Majerle did . . . until he wanted to be Head Coach and left when he was (rightfully) bypassed.

I'm not sure what the problem is, we were (or I was, at least) reminiscing about some of Marion's highlights in a thread about his retirement. No where was I trying to equate that to a representation of his overall career, or using it as a justification for anything other than it was a great moment to watch.

Thank you for the memories Shawn

I still remember that Shaq trade when we sent you to Miami. At the time I thought man Shaq is going to be good for us.

Hope you and Steve sign a one day contract with us and retire as Suns.

I wouldn't mind adding Amare to this list.

Was thinking the same thing too. Would love to have him retire a Sun. He sure was fun to watch when he was here

Are you ignoring what Majerle is doing with GCU? He's running a pretty solid program over there.

And are you also ignoring the fact that he was "rightfully" passed up for LINDSEY HUNTER?

My opinion is that Thunder Dan was not ready to be an NBA Head Coach, regardless of who got the job.

Starting at the college level was the best stepping stone for him. Giving him the maturity to perhaps someday be ready for the big time.

Although I think the next best step would be as Assistant Coach with an NBA team. But there is no rush.

It would not benefit him to have to lead the current discombobulated roster.

Who would have thought that Barbosa and Marion would win rings while Nash and Amare end ringless...

Which illustrates that it takes more than one (or even two) outstanding players to go all the way. As the Cavs proved after their two injuries.
