The D'backs and Rangers are the two teams who have talked to him so far and he wants to sign as soon as possible. I would love this...

Imagine

Webb
Livan Hernandez
Mulder
Enrique Gonzalez
I dont know who the fifth would be, but i remember a time when we had Sparks, Ortiz, and other shi*y guys at the end, and thats a pretty good beggining three.

If Mulder signs Byrnes is this years Billy Beane/Theo Epstein

Byrnes = Beane. We just need to get back to the playoffs to prove it. Joe Jr got us a ring (which we will forever be indebted for) but he still sucked. Byrnes will get us NL West crowns for years to come

Colangelo got us the ring Joe Jr. just benefited from JC's business sense and his way with people. Joe Jr. with out Jerry would have been nothing. I think Byrnes is one of the brightest young minds in the game.

Just think of this 1-4..

Webb
Hernandez
Davis
Mulder (until fully healthy, when he reaches that point, I see him becoming the #2)
Owings

Think about this for a second.. You've got 3 potential staff aces, a very strong number 2 and a guy in Owings who in the future could be an ace.

I honestly like the looks of that staff.

Very true. Exactly why I hope JC buys the Cubs and wins a long awaited championship for that franchise. Best owner ever, he owns Phoenix! He's definitely my idol

Wishful thinking-

Webb usual Cy Webb self

Davis returns to '05 form

Mulder returns to '04 form

Livan eats efficient innings like usual

Owings mows through batters like its AAA

Give us the freakin ring!

I interviewed him. He is quite the presence in person. I think he hands down turned Phoenix into a major player in sports and helped make it a top 5 city. He is my idol too. Started from nothing and gained everything through hard work and passion. Thats everyones dream.

I'm kind of split on Colangelo.

First off, he IS Phoenix sports. No ifs ands or buts about it, stars come and go, but in the end Jerry Colangelo is the face of Phoenix sports, and will be for a long time to come. Seeing him win one more championship before his time is up would be fitting.

HOWEVER, seeing him win it anywhere but Phoenix just doesn't seem right. I know, he got his with the Diamondbacks, but it would still seem very unusual having him lead another team and another city to championship success. If he could win one as owner of the Cubs, it would certainly cement his legacy as one of the all-time great owners, however as mentioned before, it just wouldn't seem completely right.

Everything you said here is dead on.. Especially about Colangelo's role in the growth of Phoenix as a major metropolitan area.

I also had the benefit of meeting him, and lemme tell you, the guy without even TRYING commands respect. As soon as he enters the room, it's almost as though you know your in amongst one of those type of people who gets respect because he commands it.

I'll settle for Webb to continue in his growth as one of the best pitchers in the NL, Mulder to return with a full bill of health, Livan and Davis to continue to be effective and eat innings and Owings or Nippert to catch lightning in a bottle and live up to bits of their potential.

I caddied for Buck Showalter in the Xerox Phoenix Open Pro Am the year before our first season (my dad was a Thunderbird and hooked it up!). I was in Jr High but it was one of the best weeks of my life. JC walked with us every round and I got to talk with him for 2 days! Also, the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish played in our group (when they were at their peak) and was hilarious. It was only a about 4 years after the Suns got fleeced out of a game 7 because Paxson made that 3 pointer with his eys closed. I brought that crap up to JC and he avoided the conversation at all costs. I specifically remember him telling me his vision for the Dbacks and what he wanted his team to achieve. I dropped my allegiance to the Braves that week and was officially a Dback from that day on (I know, I will always regret being a Braves fan but I was young and A. Jones was the truth when he was playing in those World Series!).JC is the ultimate role model and I wish him the best of luck

If the Suns get one in the next couple of seasons, it's his. I don't care what anyone says, him and Bryan built this team and Sarver better give him the limelight. It's really a shame how he's basically getting pushed out of the sports scene he developed

Don't sleep on Dana Eveland. I think he is going to be the pitching prospect to "catch lighting in a bottle". He has the potential and is almost by default the highest pitching prospect in the org as of now.

Thats a great story. I think that it's a shame how JC left the Dbacks and it almost pushed me away from being a fan of the Dbacks because I respect Colangelo that much. I really hope the Suns get it done this year so Jerry can get his NBA championship. Sarver better give Jerry a ring if they win it after he leaves the org.

Completely forgot Eveland, who MAY wind up being the prize of that deal.
He is the key to the deal for the Dbacks. Krynzel was filler and Davis is going to be ok for a few years but Eveland has the potential to be a frontline starter for years to come.

I actually like Krynzel, but he's going to be lost in a very crowded OF shuffle.

As for Eveland, when I saw that Arizona had acquired him, I could barely believe the Brewers gave him up, ESPECIALLY for such a low price tag.

IMO, Krynzel will be off the roster by the time the season starts. He has no options left and someone will give him a shot once he hits waivers. Eveland is the key to that trade. We all know Davis was the catch but Eveland will either be a great back of the rotation starter or a key lefty specialist out of the pen. Byrnes for President

The guy can't hit. All his potential offensively was shown in the lower minors and he hasn't produced since high a ball. Defensively he is solid and he has raw tools but he is a guy who has stalled in his development and might get a cup of coffee in the majors but thats probably it.

When I mentioned him, I was speaking of Eveland.

I actually think Krynzel will be a Sidewinder most of next season. I hope anyhow.

Damn no kidding..

I spend almost 3 years trying to make myself known as a credible baseball guy, then almost ruin it in a 10 second span by not clearly reading the crap I'm posting at the early hours of the AM.

Hey, did I ever say that I love the Russ Ortiz signing and Richie Sexson deal?

 JK
