Damn no kidding..

I spend almost 3 years trying to make myself known as a credible baseball guy, then almost ruin it in a 10 second span by not clearly reading the crap I'm posting at the early hours of the AM.

Hey, did I ever say that I love the Russ Ortiz signing and Richie Sexson deal?

 JK

You were all for getting Albie Lopez from Tampa instead of getting Jason Schmidt from Pittsburgh don't lie.

Oh yeah.. I swear, I still get giddy about that deal to this day. I also get goosebumps thinking what a marvelous idea it was to trade with Cincinnati for Elmer Dessens.

Thank god it's a new era in Dbacks baseball. Bring on the division and national league titles.

What would Winston Wolf say about all this Mulder excitement?

Mulder has the potential to take the Dbacks to the playoffs or be a totla waste of money. Didn't they say he can't even start throwing until March?

His agent said he'll be ready to throw off a mound by Spring Training. Who knows if thats accurate

Mulder was offered Arbitration today by the Cardinals. Not sure if anyone would want to give up a sandwich pick for him if he isn't going to be ready until June but there is apparently a gentlemens agreement that Mulder will not accept a one year deal(arbitration) and that he will want a 2 year incentive laden deal. Good for him and whoever signs him. He is a quality lefthander that can be had for a good contract.

Mulder's time table should have him ready well before June.

We're already getting 2 sandwich picks due to Counsell and Batista (highly likely) signing with other teams. I'm sure Byrnes won't mind giving up a sandwich pick if it means getting Mulder

The problem we may have is we don't do incentive laiden contracts. I'm not sure if Byrnes will offer him 2 years of guarunteed money at around 6-8 mill a season. Thats what it will likely take

He's worth a sandwich pick seeing as we are getting one for Counsell.

In the article at Stltoday.com they state that Mulder is unlikely to pitch before July, I was being opptimistic with him pitching by June. He had Rotater Cuff surgery Sept 12th. I hope he is back sooner unless he is signed by the Mets, which might be likely, then I hope he breaks a toe.

Definitly worth it, but not if he doesn't pitch until late June or July and wants gaurenteed money for 2 years around 7mil a season.

Exactly, he wants 2 years with one of them being a rehab see what he has type of season...That might be hard for some teams to swallow at 7 mil.

I think the reward is much higher than the risk honestly. Although i think the Dbacks took a risk in offering Batista arbitration. They could wind up saddled with a Mulder contract and Batista. Hopefully they have assurance that he won't accept the arbitration.

Batista has multi-year offers on the table, I highly doubt he'll accept arbitration.

Just saying it's always a possibility. I highly doubt it is going to happen.

His agent is probably reaching by stating he'll be ready to pitch off a mound by spring training. However, the people over at today.com only know what Marhta Stewarts cooking tomorrow.

It is the St. Louis Post Dispatch online site STLTODay.com site....and most of the Cardinal people Walt Jocketty, Tony, Duncan....have said that Mulder won't be ready until late spring early summer.
