Man, both the 2013 and 2016 drafts have been disasters for the Suns. To make it worse, Bogdanvoic (who they traded to move up for Chriss) has been playing very, very well and would've been a good addition to this team since he shoots 40% from 3 and is same age as Warren.

Usually scouting reports are dead on and Chriss is living up to the immaturity and undisciplined labels placed on him. That is why you can’t draft on athleticism and potential alone. You should also be looking at kids who are somewhat developed and mature for their age.

I can't stand watching Chriss play. His body language and demeanor just bugs me to no end. I have 0 hope for him, unless he gets a serious-serious dose of humility over the summer (doubt it). Bender, on the other hand, is trying hard, but he disappears for very long stretches and his flashes of improvement are too few and far between. That 2016 draft, overall, was pretty mediocre looking back. Suns got unlucky on that one, unfortunately.

This is what scares me about drafting JJJ.

I don’t want Chriss and his behavior to be rubbing off on guys like Booker and Jackson.

McD has waited till his trade value hit zero, should’ve traded him before the deadline or last summer.

Chriss has had some great blocks this year. I'm sure the Suns will get value for him. Starting to want him gone but, but, but

how do you airball a dunk when you're 6'9-10 with hops?

If it's the play I am thinking off, Chriss took off too early from too far away. That happens. What bothers me is that he routinely misses dunks because he refuses to lay the ball in when his jump is not timed right. Jackson does it too, but not nearly as often as Chriss.

I've watched a bajillion games... I've literally never seen someone do that. It's one thing to jump from too far away... that happens and then the guy usually throws up a terrible attempt at a layup, or gets hellacious blocked or whatever.

But to actually kinda just go through with the play and come down with the ball? I've never seen a dunk attempt that looked that awkward in every way in 30 years of watching basketball.

Story today where Triano says that Chriss will never be out of shape again, not after what he's had to deal with this year, having to play himself back into shape after last summer and falling out of favor in the rotation. It's encouraging to see what Chriss says but I'll believe it when we see it. He looked great at the end of last season and we saw how it took him almost 4 months before he was able to play close to where he was last year. He didn't start playing well until February of this season. Here is an excerpt...

“I want to come back in the best shape possible,” Chriss said. “I think the last couple of games show that if you run hard and be around the rim and be aggressive, you can fall into stats that benefit you.”

Triano believes that in terms of conditioning, the light has turned on for Chriss. And with that barrier cleared, he said, Chriss can become a valued piece of the Suns’ young core.

“He’ll never be in bad shape again,” Triano said. “That’s the big thing. He loses his mental focus when he gets fatigued as well. I think we take care of that, he’s going to be great.”

...With 5 games left in the season. Way to go out on a limb there, Jay.
I don’t think he is saying he won’t be out of shape again this season. He is saying he won’t make the same mistakes in the off season. We will see how it goes, but I don’t doubt he has learned his lesson.

What interim coach is dumb enough to make such a statement? Just Jay Triano, that's all.

I don't get it? Whats dumb about it?
“He’ll never be in bad shape again,” Triano said.

Painting himself into a corner there. He should have added "this season" to the end of his statement. Now, if and when Chriss is out of shape, Triano will look like a dope. Why put yourself in that position in the first place? Especially when you are an interim coach and don't have the stability of being under contract.

Triano took the interim job saying he wouldn't want it permanently. Did he paint himself into a corner about Chriss with him being on record that he doesn't want to become permanent Head Coach?

Or maybe Triano has a habit of painting himself in a corner. Either way, that is what he's done.

With him overseeing the most disappointing and embarrassing season in Suns history, whether his fault or not, it is best for him to move on. Meaning any proclamations about next season on his part are empty rhetoric. He shouldn't be spewing it and we shouldn't be listening.

With Triano on record saying he doesn't want the miscellaneous responsibilities associated with being a permanent Head Coach, I think he should just cool it and make statements about this season.

AFAIC, he is a lame duck as far as next season is concerned. There is no reason for him to stick his neck out and make comments about 2018-19.

To do so might be in his best interests, if he has changed his mind and is ready to make a long term commitment. But it is not in the best interests of the Suns at this time. His job title is "interim".

He’s also on record recently as changing his mind and actually wanting the job.

C'mon, Chap. "Recently", "Changing his mind", Actually wanting the job".

It is not about what he doesn't want. Then wants. It's about what the Suns need.

Same old-same old is not going to cut it. It is time for the leaders of the Suns to build consistency and confidence.

And if they are not able to, the players, the sportswriters and the fans will totally give up on them.

At this point, I don't give a rusty ____ what the applicant wants.

But that's what this whole exchange is about!! What are you trying to do here--change the narrative to fit your overinflated vision of what should be? I'm simply saying an incompetent head coach first didn't want the job and now he does. So what?
