Didn't our front office want to sign this clown to a big contract but he ended up taking less moeny to go to Atlanta to become a star or something? MarTay really screwed that one up. Thanks for the Philly game, MarTay!

I suppose I'm in the minority for wishing he had stayed and improved in Arizona.

At least he was finally able to pass a physical.

He got screwed by his agent big time.... he talked him up like he was a #2 or even a #1 WR in this league when in reality he was a KR/4th WR and could have made a nice living and stayed in AZ.

I do not miss his hurddle/fumble move he used to do when returning kicks though :?

I liked Martay. I hope he does well in arena league. Hell it beats going into work every day. Go Martay!

What are the average salaries in the arena league?

We offered him something like 1.2-1.5 million per year to stay on.
He declined and went to Atlanta hoping to be a star with a bigger contract.
Something like 2-3 million per year.
Eventually he was cut by Atlanta during pre season because he couldn't make the grade.
When he came running back to us he failed his physical. That was it.

At that time we would have gladly had him as our number 2-3 receiver.
Martay really screwed up.

SO what is he making now in the arena league?

They said on the news yesterday that Hunkie Cooper gets 100K. I would guess thats the max. Maybe Jenkins gets half that if he makes the team. Still beats going to work everyday IMO. No doubt, he gambled and lost big on his NFL gig. Worse mistakes have been made by better men. I still pull for the guy.

I lost all respect for MarTay when he jogged off the field in Texas stadium smiling ear to ear and laughing after the Cards got whooped 44 to 7 or something like that. At least act like you care about the game.

Jenkins should have stayed in Arizona but it is probably better for us that he didn't. Although it would have been nice having him return punts last year.

I do not miss that move at all either. Shows just what great talented guys Macs Regime were trying to sign to high long term deals. I love this douche turned down the contract and now is playing Arena Ball. Maybe an a few years you might see McCown throwing to Jenkins..J/K :D

I also forgot to thank MarTay not only for the Philly game, but also for saving us from our own stupidity. Between the Bryan Gilmore, Damien Anderson, and Steve Bush extensions to the debacle known as the 2003 class of free agents (in which we also thankfully whiffed on Vonnie Holliday and MarTay), it's a shock Mac and Graves still have jobs.

Hmm, maybe I just don't get ragging on a guy for slipping into the minor leagues. He's still athletic enough to be there, so good for him.

The greatest feeling in the world is to be able to make a living doing something you have a talent and a love for. Hopefully Jenkins will find his way back into the NFL. If not, at least it gives me a reason to follow the Rattlers :)

There have been a few player make their way to the NFL via the AFL. Orande Gadson (sp) and some guy named Kurt Warner to name a few.

Two former Cardinals did not make Rattlers' squad

[font=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Two former Cardinals - receiver/defensive back MarTay Jenkins and lineman Andy Bowers - didn't make the Rattlers' final roster.

Jenkins was considered a longsot to make the team with a history of knee problems that shortened his NFL career and because the Rattlers were so loaded at the two-way spot.
