He should have thrown his keys away where they were not available. This likely would have prevented the offense. Can't drive if you don't have keys on most cars.

It don't matter at all. You can't drive drunk or under the influence of drugs.

so why ask?

If you are in a vehicle drunk with keys you can be napping, sleeping or reading the bible and still get the DUI.

This stupidity of Cardinals OT Bobbie Massie is beyond comprehension. Found asleep behind wheel intoxicated SB week...suspended 3 games

If this is what happened I don't even understand how he is suspended or even in any kind of trouble. To me all he did was went to his car to sleep off drinking too much. How is that even a bad thing. When I first heard that he was suspended I thought it must be steroids.

sleeping in your car drunk is a DUI even if the car isnt on. You could have been driving around before you passed out. I know several people who have sleeping DUIs.

Could be charged with a DUI if he has keys near the ignition. Not sure if he has actually been convicted or not?

This seems stupid. Sleeping it off in a car seems reasonably responsible. I don't think it's "incredibly stupid" on Massie's part (as a first time offense). However, maybe Massie does have a problem and this was just the first the public knows about it. If so, and the Cards already knew about it. the draft pick makes much more sense.

its a dui, regardless of the intelligence of the law.

Or the free 24/7 Service provided to all NFL players by the NFL

players avoid that otherwise the team knows thye are out drinking

It's referred to as "being in actual physical control". But is a DUI.

I suppose its easy for me to say but....

if you are an athlete making $$$ how do u not get a limo/driver service? Its beyond stupid to risk such a great opportunity byt drinking and driving. Ask Aldon Smith....Dude your probably have had a 60 million dollar extension by now if he kept it cool

Yep...you can get a dui sleeping in the back seat of the car if the keys are in the car (anywhere including your pocket or glove box). Advice to anyone who'll listen...if you do want to sleep it off in the back seat...put the keys OUTSIDE the car under a rock...even if they are touching the tire you can still get busted. They have to be 'away' from the vehicle.
I think it's garbage to bust a guy sleeping in the back seat.
Massie is an idiot!

Super Bowl week and we're barely hearing about it now? Talk about terrible reporters. Oh and he's a ******* for not getting a cab.

Correct. It's a stupid law, but it's a law.

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid to put yourself in that position. Granted in my 20's I slept in my car a few times after parties because I was drunk. Never realized it was against the law but now I know and will not do it again. Really is a stupid law but it is what it is. Sucks for the team because it looks like Humphries is not have a good camp.

Wonder if the Cardinals would be tempted to cut him, move on and save $1.542M on the cap. No wonder Steve Keim mentioned RB, T and ILB as the top need areas yesterday.
