Does anyone watch this? Season 2 wrapped up last night. I originally thought this show was very soap opera-ish, however it's actually quite good. My wife and I have been watching since season 1. I believe it's now streaming on Netflix.

It's got a very loyal following (that never stop talking about how good it is), so I checked it out. I watched the first 3 or 4 episodes, and while it wasn't bad, I didn't see anything special about it either.

I thought it was well done but it just never grabbed me.

I very much enjoy it, because it gives me a nice overview of how history in that time period looked in England. It's a nice, historical slice-of-life of the upper crust.

Love it! Watching it on DVD with wife, waiting for the next season to come out. Excellent acting and portrayal of history.

Just finished watching all 3 seasons + specials (25 episodes total) in about 10 days. Extremely addictive show. And very well done.

Enjoyable but not fabulous.

I was a HUGE Upstairs, Downstairs fan in the 70's. Downton Abbey is that show in tweeds.

Late to the party.. (I usually don't start watching shows until the finale is underway)
Just finished up season 2.
I've never had a tear drawn from a show, that wasn't based on actual events.

But these writers had me sniffling a few times. thank god I had a cold all week. (I think the wife bought it?) :p

The wife and I agree, it's our favorite series ever, the writing and acting is superb!

Old Lady Grantham has the best zingers.... typically fired off at the most inopportune time!

Finished the finale yesterday.

Easily one of my all time favorite series.
Predictable...kinda sappy, but such great writing and acting.

My wife argued against me, But I think Elizabeth McGovern was the weakest acting link in the whole show... And that's not a knock on her at all, I just simply thought the others were better.

I didn't even mention it to my wife until season 5 or so, because I thought maybe I was judging her based on the fact..... that she was the only main character with an "American" accent.
But I don't think that was my bias.

And I don't think she is a bad actress at all, I just feel the others upstaged her.
Bleh...whatever, It was probably her accent.

Didn't want it to end.
