Lets as fans force the cards to draft matt jones to play te by posting, emailing
and calling in on talk radio. He will be a pro bowler at that position in 2 yrs. And then he will be a lock there for 5 to 6 yrs after that.HELP ME HELP US

Yesterday 20 NFL scouts were in Fayetteville watching workouts by NFL hopefulls. I watched some of it on TV. They interviewed Matt Jones afterwards as he was participating. I think they indicated he ran the 40 in 4.37. the scouts all seemed to be shaking their heads. Has there ever been a guy 6'6" 242 lbs that could run a 4.37? They also had the players perform some quickness drills. They showed Jones performing these and he moves like a cat. They were asking him what position he would play and he said where ever they want me to. He was at the local ABA basketball game this week and I could not believe how big he is when you get close to him. He looks like he has hardly any body fat. The more I see this guy the more I think he will be a big impact player for some team and I do not even know at what position. No way he goes lower than a #3.

P.S. Oliver Big O Miller is playing for the Arkansas team which I think is 28-3 and should win the ABA going away. Big O at 400 lbs can still put it through the hoop big time and sure has a mean streak. He should consider becoming an offensive lineman. Todd Day the former NBA player is a scoring machine in the ABA. He lit it up for 42 Saturday and must be averaging over 30. He will be leaving to play in Spain or Italy after the playoffs.

You can bet whoever drafts him will look at him at QB no matter what position he plays. He was a very good QB at Arkansas and set some SEC records. He is sort of written off as a QB by most but so were some of those 7th rd picks at QB who play now.

I don't think so...TE all the way.

Note: there is a difference between TE and WR.

TE is a need. WR is not.

Matt Jones sort of blurs that difference which makes him very different. How does a 6' DB cover a 6'6" 242 lb who runs a 4.37 (latest time trial before the scouts run on 3-16-05 and who can jump like a rebounding basketball forward. If he lines up at TE how does a linebacker cover him. He runs away from the LB in a couple of steps. When he gets into the secondary he is not just a straight line runner with speed. He has the moves of a shifty running back. The more I think about the problems he creates for a defense the more I think this guy will make an immediate impact in the NFL this year. I doubt he will end up with the Cards as he is probably not even on our radar but you can bet he is on several teams radar and they will pounce on him probably earlier than most of us think.

Matt JonesWRJones (6-6 1/8, 241) stuck with his times and vertical from the combine (he did well). He ran a 4.11 short shuttle, an 11.07 long shuttle and a 6.65 three-cone drill. He worked out at tight end as well and looked good catching the ball.

The Cards have too many needs to take a chance on a player like Jones IMO. They need to go after a player at TE that has PLAYED it and has proven they can -vs- "potential".

He's the "feel good" story and the future potential "genius" tag some GM/Coach will get if he becomes a star. But, I still maintain, the Cards are in NO position to gamble away a pick be it a 3rd round or 7th round gamble.

Peace!

Every pick is a gamble, it's just that some are more of a gamble than others. I've always felt that if you want big rewards you have to take risks.
