I've never been "broken" in a gym. It needs to be kept that way. :)

Leave it to the guys getting paid to do it.

Nice! Good to see he's puking from working out instead of a beer bong. Although personally, I would enjoy the latter.

Not me. I always enjoyed the drinking and carousing part, but I sure hated the up-chucking from over indulgence.;)

I still think the kids gonna be great!!!

I agree. It's amazing to see how much Leinart has matured in the last year (at least that's how it appears). Warner being named the starter last year has proved to be the best decision ever. The obvious reason being that Kurt had an amazing year and lead the Cards to the Super Bowl, but it also is turning out to be the best thing that could have happened to Matt and in turn great for the future of this franchise.

Doesn't mean anything. Show me on the field. QB coach Chris Miller, in his Urban interview said Leinart still has problems moving his feet and setting to throw properly.

Matt is showing maturity. That part I'll concede.

Just have to be careful what you wish for. Other guys have been "broken".... look how they end up.

Good one.

There are a lot of ties to MMA and the Cardinals. From Glazer, to Leinart, to our own "TV Voice of the Cardinals" Mike Goldberg.

I like the note that Victor Hobson is going to play ILB for us.

Nice I hope Leinart turns out to be a decent qb and have a great carrer with Cardinals like Warner has, and who knows maybe bring us a superbowl :). I am looking forward to the year that Leinart starts will be intresting to see if he really has improved. Lets go Cards F the Steelers

Foxsports has the video on it. You can tell he's leaving everything he has out there and is dedicated to utilizing the off-season to improve himself physically and mentally.

Skkorp, I agree that's we'll need to see it on the field BUT this is a big step in showing that he's committed himself to getting tougher and improving as a football player (as opposed to hosting co-ed beer bong parties). That's a very good sign for us.

I'm not sure I understand the benefit of doing this. If anything, I would worry about him hurting his hand/wrist learning an unfamiliar sport. I have the distinct impression that this is more about the publicity and "coolness" of MMA than anything else.

Is there any football benefit to doing MMA? I don't see how this is somehow better for Leinart than whatever Lott could come up with.

Do you know anything about MMA?

Have you ever gone to a gym and trained for it ?

And if am sure if this was Warner it would be the greatest thing that every was thought of by anyone at anytime, at any place.

Maybe it'll help him become a better QB or maybe it won't, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm just glad to see that he's taking his career seriously now. That's not a easy workout he's putting his body through hell. I'm sure he's coming into camp in the best shape of his life and he'll be mentally tougher because of all this and as just about anyone will tell you, most of this game is between the ears.

Besides (low blow coming), MMA workouts definitely beat hot tub workouts right? The mental maturity that this guy has gained in one season is simply amazing to me. Especially when you've got Glazer sitting there basically calling him a wussy (replace the W) and telling him that we're trying to make you quit.

I just have one question: how tall is Jay Glazer? He looks pretty small next to Matt :p

You're absolutely right Glazer told him he would not show up for day two and he kept coming back for more. I definitely like the attitude change he's gone from pouting and saying "it's my team" to working his a** off to get his career back online I don't see how anyone can not see this as a positive IMO.

No, Warner trained with Jon Lott and took the Cardinals to the Super Bowl. It seems like Leinart has plenty of resources to benefit from in-house. Between Lott and Warner I don't think there's much Jay Glazer can offer Leinart. I could be wrong.

I have no doubt that it's a tough workout but I also have no doubt that John Lott could come up with something just as tough that was football specific. Maybe the ground and pound will help Leinart throw TD's but I don't see how. I guess it's good that Leinart is showing the capacity to being devoted to something I would just have preferred that it was football that he was showing such devotion to.

I definitely like the attitude change he's gone from pouting and saying "it's my team" to working his a** off to get his career back online I don't see how anyone can not see this as a positive IM
I'm also quite pleased with Leinart's attitude through the last year but I'm beginning to have a concern with the offseason publicity. Since Warner is constantly thrown in my face let's use him as a comparison. Anyone remember the physical difference between Warner in '07 & '08? Or Fitz? I think we can stop right there because you can't find two better examples. Now, if both of those guys can go from really good to MVP caliber under John Lott then I don't see why Leinart couldn't.

Hanging out with Jay Glazer and Tom Brady and Joe Montana(last year) and all the other celebrity types just seems like a way for Leinart to get his name in the news. I'm more concerned about his new QB coach still thinking he has footwork issues. If someone can tell me how sparring with a muscle bound midget can make him a better QB then I'll be pleased as pie that he's doing this.

I don't get it, Matt is 'damned if he does damned if he doesn't'.
He gets slammed for pictures of a beer bong party (and let's not fool ourselves, there are plenty of our own beloved Cards doing similar things but without pictures) then he is working on improving himself and he gets slammed. He didn't say he isn't working with Lott in the video, he worked with Glazer 3 days a week for 1-1/2 hrs to learn an edge. I doubt he is stiing home the other 4 days doing nothing, that's a pretty big leap to assume that he is doing ONLY the MMA trainging

Well, I neither slammed him or damned him for his MMA experiment nor did I claim that he is only doing MMA in the offseason.

I actually said that I've been impressed, just like everyone else, with Leinart's apparent maturity. I just think this particular situation comes off looking like a publicity stunt.

Perhaps I'm being too critical but it scares me that at this point he still has to develop ways to becoming mentally tough. I hope it all translates to NFL success. But as I said earlier, part of my concern is that throwing punches is not something I would want my QB or pitcher or point guard doing in the offseason.

Marcus Allen doing karate and breaking a finger wouldn't particularly effect how he was able to run the ball. Matt Leinart breaking a finger on his throwing hand would be a bit different.

Yoga, plyometrics, ballet or whatever. I've got no problem at all with any of them if it makes the player "better"(more durable, fit, flexible, etc.) but Leinart choosing MMA because he consciously thinks he still needs to be more mentally tough, risking his hands in the activity and yet another article about him improving are red flags to me.

I really do hope that he is doing everything the right way for the right reasons. My instinct is that there is something kinda fishy smelling though.

I wasn't pointing to you specifically, it was more of a genral statement. It just seems like "generally speaking" there are people who slam him for everything he does. I didn't mean for you to take that as a dig to you.

Also, I don't think he trying to get himself into the the media spotlight, this is really the only thing I've seen this offseason with him, Q has been more in the spotlight than anyone. Matt is a QB, went to the SB and is expected to be a great QB someday (according to all the hype etc..) so I see his workout as being a postive news story on him. I don't know if it will help either but it sure looks like it can make him alot tougher and with an older Warner we're gonna need Matt to step in this year I have a feeling.
In any event, he's a Card and I'm pulling for him in whatever way he is trying to improve as a player.
