That's not what Loney said, he said that Davis graded out highest throughout the year.

I'm basing it on what I saw--I personally thought Brown was awesome the last month of the season. Besides there are no guarantees Davis will be back--although I hope he is.

Round drafted in.

If he is given any of the 1st 2 tenders, there is no way in hell we try to sign him.

If he is given any of the last 2 tenders I fully expect us to try really hard for him as probably a few other teams will as well. He was a third round pick, and with the free agent market looking pretty grim, I just can't see even the Steelers letting him walk for just a 2nd or a 3rd. That'd be nice if it happened though.

pinnacle, nice job on the recall of this mornings program. Giving up a 1st round pick for Starks would be steep indeed.

• Sounded as though Starks was the person instigating the conversation; he really seemed to want to continue to play for Whiz and Grimm
• Starks does own a home in Mesa, probably another reason that he would like to play here.
• As someone already stated, it makes more sense to re-sign Davis.
• Finally, off-season dreaming is fun, but it's not realistic.

Steinbach at OT would be a waste of his talents and doesnt have that much experience there.

Gandy gives up way to many sacks and was benched or relegated to OG for the Bills this year, He isnt any good or any better then Wells. Much rather pick a guy like Jon Stinchcomb of the Saints, Tony Pashos of the Ravens, or Marc Columbo of the Boys.

Brown has bever played OT before.

If we sign Starks then its because we believe either he or Wells can play LT. The interior of the line is staying put

Starks had a very poor year in Pittsburgh at RT, and I doubt that he has the feet for LT. Maybe Wells does, but that's a pretty dicey gamble. Even if we wanted a RT in free agency, we could get Tony Pashos without giving up a draft pick.

Because if we don't re-sign Davis, we have a HUGE hole at OT NOW not next year.

If its a 2nd or a 3rd rounder they want and the coaching staff thinks highly of him, go for it

Sign or franchise Leonard Davis and forget Starks, especially since he costs one of our six draft picks.

I think Reggie Wells has more upside at ROT. He only played there 1/2 the season and was learning on the fly so to speak. Guard and tackle are two different animals. At the least, he's a gamer, who came out and played after running a fever the whole week before. I'd like to see what he can do with an entire offseason to learn the tackle position. Besides he's signed for the next several seasons. But, he definitely needs to do better against speed rushers.

Starks lauds Grimm

Steelers offensive lineman Max Starks, a restricted free agent who owns a house in Mesa, would love to play in Arizona. He said new Cardinals offensive-line coach Russ Grimm is the best in the business and has predicted a huge bounce-back year for lineman Oliver Ross.

" 'O' called me, and he was laughing at me, telling me that he now had Grimm and I didn't," Starks said. "He's on top of the world."

Ross played in Pittsburgh before signing with the Cardinals as a free agent.

If Starks would be effective at LT (which, according to some on this board, is very very debatable), maybe this could be one of those "change of scenery" situations where we might consider trading Leonard Davis even-up for Starks - subject to new deals getting done for each.

But that's a huge IF.

Also - How sure are we that Ross would be resurrected under his old boss, Russ Grimm? Aside from his injuries, has he struggled here (and lost his starting position) because he was misused? Or has he simply turned out to not be very good?

I Thought Davis Wanted To "go Home To Texas" And Play. I Would Put The Onus On His Agent To Work On A Trade With Either Houston Or The Cowboys. My Fantasy Would Be That Houston Trades For Davis And Gives Up Either A 1st Or 2nd.
