The question really is despite his position, how much of an impact will he make? If he's good enough that he's constantly driving the DL back and routinely blowing people up when he pulls, that's easily going to increase the YPC of any back that runs behind him. Going from a 3.5 YPC team to a 4.0 or 4.5 YPC team would be great and probably improve us more than anyone else in this draft (unless one of the QBs pans out). If he's the best player in this draft, he just might be that good. But that's a big if.

When ppl think of an OG it's all about run paving but they forget how important guards are in pass-pro. Outside pressure is easier to avoid than interior pressure. QB's need to be able to step up in the pocket. Warmack is excellent in pass-pro unlike our current stiffs at guard.

I'd be ok with Warmack but would rather draft Jordan or Jones.

Ever seen him go up against a stud DT or NT? John Jenkins had his way with him. 15-20 I would take him, no way at #7. Take Fisher or Johnson, LTs at #7.

No. Has he? Actually his team was suck to mediocre. I don't get to watch many Chippewa games. I have seen Warmack many times. Arguably, Warmack may be the best interior OLman in the draft, but it ain't a glamor pick. It is fill a need and I don't like that top ten.

He hasn't and that's my argument against taking him in the top 10. If the Cards are going OL, I want Warmack to be the pick. I want no part of Fisher. I want a pass rusher at 7, unless Joeckel would inexplicably fall in our laps.

I would be really upset if we didn't take Warmack at#7. Best player on the board and it fills a glaring need. Don't care that he's a guard. Put him next to Levi who is a pretty good run blocker in his own right and we could run over the left side all day long. Imagine what it will do for the passing game.

No he didn't watch the film, he got beat once and Bama rushed for 350 yards. Stop overrating the LT position.

I remember last year, people fawning over DeCastro, and this year Warmack is suppose to be even better??.... Sounds like BPA and the most sure thing in the draft to me. Also, a position of need. If available, I don't see how the pick would even warrant discussion.

This board is going to melt down when Arians/Kiem draft a QB at #7....

You're right, AF. However, of SK, JL, BA & TM see a QB at #7 they want, then the confidence in the choice, combined with the coaching that QB is going to get may be the best choice possible. Getting the QB situation settled is paramount.

Fischer supposidly dominated at the Senior Bowl and thus proved he can go against top college talent.

Agreed but our interior OL is "adequate" at pass-pro and downright awful at run blocking IMO. Most of the pressure on our QBs came from the edge last season. Warmack will be a solid upgrade in pass pro, but a HUGE upgrade in run blocking.

Personally I won't. I don't particularly like any of the QBs in this draft but can see the logic behind taking one and you never know. Take a QB and if he at least becomes as good as a Dalton type we're back to the playoff race every year. Still rather take one of the top prospects on OL or DL/LB and take one of the QBs in the 2nd or 3rd as I don't see a huge drop off, but I certainly won't be furious.

Why?

It didn't melt down when we chose a bust that did very little to help the team last year.

Lol..... I think I did a great job of melting down when we took Floyd. God was that stupid.

That's not accurate. He went against the top senior talent that accepte an invite.

He didn't square off against one top tweny five type pass rush talent. Okafor and Jones, probably both 2nd rounders, were the best he faced and, by no means, did he dominate them.
