D. J. Humphries OT. Mayock says he has the best LT feet in the draft. Stated that Veldheer played well for us last year but Palmer needs to be protected.

I would hope that Humphries can play OG this year and be first next man up if one of our OT's gets injured.

I think he will be the best LT in this draft too but there isn't a chance in hell we draft him in the 1st.

NFLN draft expert. I think he is typically very good and does know his stuff.

He's on NFLN and I don't like him. Daniel Jeremiah is the guy to listen to on that network. Mayock is basically their version on Kiper and McShay.

He is the latest hot TV draft expert. His mocks are as good as any on our board. He is entertaining to listen to.

I don't like this pick at all but I've got no problem with Mayock. He's a pretty good color guy on college games too.

I'm thinking we may take an O-lineman 3'rd to 4'th rnd. . I say 90% chance we don't take one in the first rnd.

Skip Bayless thinks that pick is foolish and poorly researched.

The guy is Nostradamus on draft day, when it comes to predicting what a team is about to do. Before the Cardinals did the trade with San Diego to pick Minter, the group of them were trying to guess what the Cardinals would do. The rest of them were thinking Manti Tao. Mayock says 'I can see the Cardinals trading this pick to San Diego so they can take Tao.' Everybody looked at him like he was crazy. That was just one example of many.

I don't know about his player evaluation, but when it comes to the draft itself, I think he's really tapped in.

that was kinda my position as well.

Yeah it seemed kind of mailed in. I just ff'd to that part of the show. He had 3 tackles going right in a row. He was talking about Palmer being 36 and needing more protection. Definitely felt like a rush job.

Mayock wasn't the only one who picked Humphries going to the Cardinals. Charlie Casserly also picked Humphries to the Cardinals.

We have a pretty thin OL depth wise, especially on the outside. A tackle with the best feet in the draft wouldn't be anywhere near the worst they could do there.

If Bobby Massie is playing right tackle, Carson Palmer won't be under center come December. That makes right tackle the Cardinals number one need in the draft, but they can pick up one that doesn't have tunnel vision in the second or third round.

I like Mayock but I think he is way off on this one. Bruce Arians has already said he is happy with our tackles. We draft for need and we have too many other needs to be drafting a tackle.

You have to wonder if Mayock and Casserly have inside information with the Cards. How could anyone outside the org identify the need (pretty well hidden from all of us armchair experts) and the player the Cards were obviously so high on? I could see a scenario where there is an "agreement" between old friends that the Cards give some inside information and then the talking heads talk about what a good pick it is (and how smart they were for mocking/guessing it). It would be a win-win for both sides. Talking head looks smart, Team gets better praise then is warranted. I think this is one of Mayocks strengths - inside information which informs his evaluations. I don't think Kiper has it at all, he's an outsider, his valuations and mocks are often wrong but his evaluations are based solely on his own observations.
Also, we never actually landed on the moon and there was a man on the grassy knoll.;)

I posted this on another thread, but it looks like Daniel Jeremiah is pretty high on DJ.

"D.J. Humphries is the best left tackle in the draft. I'm a big fan, and he'll go higher than people think. I don't know if that means he goes in the early 20s or the late teens, but he's a good player. I think he'll be the second offensive lineman to go. He's got great feet, he's just 20 years old, and when he's been healthy he's played at a very high level. And he can actually play left tackle. A lot of these tackles are right tackles, but he can play on the left."
