Wow Oscar is the early underdog. This will be fight of the last 20 years.

Interesting side story. Mayweathers dad trains Oscar and they are not friendly.

Mayweathers father has already told Oscar that should he fight his son that he wouldnt train him for the fight. Thats what they said following Oscars throttling of Mayorga.

So looks like he will be finding a new trainer for this fight unless Maywether Sr. changed his mind.

I don't think that this is the fight of the last 20 years. Neither of them are in their prime.

I agree. But they are both still very good. One of the better tickets of the last several years at least.

Mayweather Sr has already said he is training Oscar and has been trash talking his son about how he will learn his leasson for turning him away as his trainer.

You're joking right?

Mayweather is very much in his prime. But I still say oscar takes him. He is an all time great.

No, I am not kidding. Floyd is much closer to his prime than Oscar is. If you think that Oscar is not fighting the last fights of his career, and that his skills have diminished some..........

That said, it should still be a hell of a fight though.

Mayweather is dead-center in his prime! This is his peak! He's 29 years old!! Sheeesh...

Oscar is absolutely past his prime... He's still a great fighter with a HUGE heart and mad skills. But in this fight, he will be rendered useless... Mayweather is the best defensive fighter in the history of the sport. The only way Oscar has a shot is to land one of his devasting left hooks - which, if Mayweather has one weakness, it's that he is sometimes open to the left hook... But that's it... This sounds like it should be a great fight - one for the ages... But, given Mayweathers style and how much of a defensive fighter he is, this may actually turn into a very boring, ugly fight, with Oscar trying his best to mix it up, missing often, and Floyd picking Oscar apart with his sick jab and quick hands... Both fighters will not look like they've been thru a fight when it's over...

All that said, I would Love to see Oscar find the way to beat him... just don't see it happening...

Prediction: Mayweather will destroy Oscar with pinpoint accuracy. Expect a late stoppage.

That being said, I though Oscar was finished when he decided to become a brawler (as he lost his handspeed). However, he proved me wrong over his last few fights.

Should be an epic fight, and would still love to see Oscar pull it out.

This will be a good fight, Floyd is in his prime right now, Oscar is getting older but he is a very smart fighter with a "WICKED" left hook that Floyd might over look. Floyd hasnt really been hit flush in his career so will see how he'll handle Oscars Left Hook.

I think oscar will win, becaue hes not dumb. If he didnt think he had a really good shot to win, he wouldnt have taken this fight. But Floyd might be to fast for Oscar, but if anyone has the smarts to slow down a fast fighter its Oscar with the Left Hooks to the Body.

Mayweather Jr. will beat Oscar with little difficult, IMO. However, I don't think it will be a knockout. Oscar has shown that he can take a punch, and he will definitely win some rounds, but he is definitely getting up there in age, he's no Ali. Mayweather will win more rounds, and probably pretty substantially.

Saw someone had recently created a new thread regarding this upcoming fight, and Shane reminded him of this original thread - so I'll post my updated thoughts here..
I'm seriously hyped for this fight. Have any of you been watching the specials on HBO each Sunday, that highlight Oscar and Floyd in training? Clearly, they are both in the best shape of their careers. Training has never been an issue for either of these guys - they are known to be gym-rats...
Oscar looks very fit, very sharp and fast, and very strong. But so does Floyd...
I still contend that Floyd is simply way too defensive-minded to allow this fight to become a true epic war... I wish it would be different. I know Oscar will do all he can to make it a war. But Floyd is simply too fast, too young, and too damm good to allow himself to be taken out of his game-plan. He will move and duck, twist & turn and will not allow Oscar the chance to get inside and bully him. Oscar will be the bigger man and perhaps the stronger man. But Floyd will be too quick and too defensively skilled...
I really, really want to see Oscar take Floyd down! Floyd is a punk who wins in large part because of his defensive abilities and lack of willingness to mix it up... No saying he's not one of the best ever - his is... But Oscar is about as couragous as they come. If he can sneek in that left hook of his, this could be a different story... But I just don't see that happening...
It will go the distance and Floyd will win on points... Oscar will be lumpy and bumpy, maybe even cut up... And Floyd will look virtually untouched..
If the fight doesn't go the distance, it will be because Oscar somehow found the way to make FLoyd stand and fight, and in doing so, will hit Floyd like he's never been hit before...

Very nice summary. And those HBO specials have been brilliant so far. Big Props to Australian Cable for buying it.

Hey - are you the same AussieCardinal from the azcards board?? If so - glad to see you over here! And great to see that Aussie Cable includes HBO! I also think the specials on this fight have been extremely well done! They have actually made me dislike Mayweather more, and respect Oscar more. Man I would love to see Oscar somehow knock him out!!

It is! Great to see u 82!
I have to agree with you again on Mayweather's attitude. Before i saw the specials i was really behind Jr. Im just not a big fan of Oscar. That being said i have this feeling while watching these specials that Mayweather is going into this fight just alittle too cocky and confident.
I found it funny in one of the episodes that you have on one side of the scale Oscar having a public training session. And then you have Mayweather more intent on hanging out with 50 Cent.

Alright! Hope to see around more often Aussie!
Mayweather does seem extremely cocky - more so than usual... I have always admired his skills in the ring. He really is one of the best ever... And training has never, ever been an issue with him. In fact, most boxers stop training while between fights. Not Floyd... He is always in shape.
This will be the biggest challenge of Oscar's career. And that's saying something as Oscar has fought them all... That's how great Mayweather is...
Still, I will be cheering loudly for Oscar to pull off the upset and beat the crap out of Floyd!

Paulie Malignaggi V Louvmore N'Dou

Looking forward to Malignaggi finally getting that title that i think he deserves. He would have had one sooner, but i dont think there is anyone out there at the moment that can take down Miguel Cotto.
That and the fact that N'Dou was handed the title, and all these bum Australian boxing writers praise him like he is the next Jesus Christ
