McCown didn't look bad IMO. He can scramble, and he puts some pretty good zip on the ball. All of this, against a play-off caliber team. It would be nice if the Cards already had their "QB of the future" on the roster.

That way, they could use the draft and free agency to improve the rest of the team.

If McCown can show significant improvement in the last two games, I will accept him as the QB of the future.

He played well today.

Hey, the guy played a great game today.

He showed great mobility and athletic prowess.
He showed a strong, accurate arm.
He generally played a "heady" game. Made the right decisions, when to throw, when to run, when to just throw it away.
...in flat he showed the complete package today......

What more do any of you want?

Obviously the skills, talent, and ability are there.

Has our expectation level of Cardinal players lead us to believe that McCown is really our QB of the future or hoping he is. I live
in Dallas and have seen McCown at least 10 times in college(he played at SMU and McNeese) and I will promise you HE IS NOT the
answer.

Based on 1 game where McCown played average!-YES AVERAGE. You are making a blanket statement that McCown will be the QB of the future in AZ?

Heres what happens guys. If McCown shows he can play average at this level, Parsons will probably be gone and if the Cards have the #1-3 pick this will be all the more of an excuse for the team to trade down out of it.

The only thing McCown playing well does for this team is create an excuse for the Cards to trade down out of that spot so they do not have to pay a $15-20 million siging bonus.

I am not much for predicitions or going out on a limb, but I will say that there is no way the Cards draft Manning, Roethzzxzxzxz, or any other QB if they have that pick.

The reason? They will NOT be there to take one. They WILL trade down!

GREAT?

Did you watch the same game I did? He played average, made some plays with his feet, and generallyl didnt look "scared stupid" out there. Which is a vast improvement over his mop up duties last week!

To use the word GREAT is well, nonsense. I think he is a serviceable backup at best with a strong arm, and some athleticism that allows him to get out of troule sometimes, but QB of the future? NEVER!

A QB who hits wide open recievers. McCown missed some easy throws when guys were WIDE OPEN.

What more do I want? how about a couple passing td's.

The guy does look good - don't get me wrong, showed a very strong arm and some elusiveness.

I think he needs more of a pocket presence though, he showed the ability to go to the 2nd and 3rd read and he did know when to throw it away.

He played a very average game against a defense that had no way of scouting him.Once teams gameplan to Mccown's weaknesses he will fall back into his backup role. They'll shadow him and make him beat them from the pocket.

Why say never?

I wouldn't bet the farm on the guy either but he has a lot of skill saying never is stupid just like saying he is our starter based on one game.

He has two more games to prove he should be our number 2, that is the way I look at it.

I would then say if he beats out the other QB so be it but no one rides for free at QB anymore!!!!!!!!!!!

Eli maybe but more like the unpronounceable dude is who we get since I think we may pick #2.

I bet we trade down and get him later.

He has a cannon for an arm too that is why he just might make it.

He is the total physical package, no one knows if he has the brains that is the only question.

I think he played above average for his experience level period. It was his first start.

He can scramble, he can throw on the run and he can throw from the pocket.

I think he will be a starter in the NFL and a good one but probably not for another year or two.

IMHO at the very least Mc Nown will go into camp battling for the # 1 spot. Regardless of whom we draft. With 2 more games and an offseason of work it will be difficult for any rookie to overtake him. If he Q and Johnson can get on the same page this offseason it will be difficult to unseat him.

Cbus, you are so full of it that you're apparently even tainting the color of my fonts.
Your card bashing is more predictable than some of the Cards previous play calling.

Why don't you just go back to watching your old Ohio St. tapes and spare everyone, yourself included, your own personal remedy for insomnia.

In order to do this, he needs his reps.

Thus, I say again:

If McCown shows solid improvement in the next 2 games, I will be ready to label McCown as "Mr. Franchise".

If not:

ELI!!!

Actually I found his points rather valid. Clearly, Carolina lacked the preparation to understand how McCown would react in a given situation. Often times, that can make a big difference in how a defense prepares and ultimately plays the game.

Espn announced on WED. that the Cards had the #1 pick based on Strength of schedule. I really don't see them winning at SEA or
at MIN because I think this loss at the end took the last breath out of them. WE NEED ELI FOR HIS SKILLS AS WELL AS THE HOPE
AND PROMISE FOR THE FANS. We have a pretty good receiving corps now it is time for a franchise QB, something we have not had since Lomax. We need a high profile player who can play and to market to the fans, the NFL and the national media. Manning may be that guy.

Tango, I'm not ready to call McCown the man yet, but he did impress me enough that I think we can let Blake go. McCown has a very good arm, can throw on the run, can scramble when he needs to, and I think he might turn out to be a decent QB. But, it is way to soon to give him the job. I think over the next two games we will get a better idea of whether or not to annoint him as our possible future QB. Right now I am for making him number one out of him, Blake and Parsons. I am still for drafting Eli Manning, but McCown is at least making me think that there might be a chance for him being the man. We will get a little better picture of things after the next two games.

Y'all realize that the ONLY way McCown is a franchise QB is if we draft another supposed one this off season. If we don't, he wont work out. Thats how it works, right?

McCown is the #1 QB for the next 3 games.
