I didn't even know Martay didn't wanna be in AZ anymore!! That said I had wanted him back, but since I now know this screw him (even though he'd help) I will always be of the mindset that no player is bigger than the bird, and if you want out so bad stay the hell out!! (ie; Jamir, Simeon, DB)

Yeah, The same fricken Kool-aid the Falcons are drinking. You know, the same stuff that tells you Martay is good for about 4 plays a season and certainly a guy to build a team around.

Martay only wanted to stay here for #1 money. He left because his self inflated ego told him he could be #1 somewhere else. Guess what, Martays visions of being #1 turned into about 6th or 7th and not worthy of an NFL roster spot.

Yeah, I want this guy back. While we're at it I here Marquise Walker is looking for a job. We should bring him in for a look.

I'm sorry, but Mar Tay didn't help out as much on special teams as some are claiming.

If we could sign him as a gunner, and ONLY as a gunner (in addition to WR, of course) I'd be all for it. If we want him back as a KR, then NO FRICKIN' WAY!!!

I don't care that he averages like 30 yards per return. If you put the ball on the turf on KR duty as much as he did, then you should not be playing KR. Those fumbles killed us so much, giving the ball back to the other team after they'd just scored on us, not letting our defense catch its breath, etc.

Say YES to Martay as WR/Gunner. Say NOOOOOOO to Martay as a KR!!!

Lowballed?

How many other teams offered him more than us? I would guess that it was zero. He took a one year deal with ATL for considerably less that we offered.

The were and possibly still are concerns with a recurring knee problem that caused many missed practices last season.

If the Packers want Jenkins, they might have to act quickly. He still owns a home in Phoenix, has a strong relationship with Cardinals offensive coordinator Jerry Sullivan and could become a major contributor almost immediately at wide receiver.

"I think he will go right back there," Snead said. "He knows them and he's real close with Jerry Sullivan."

Hmmm...interesting...

if martay is so good then why was he cut. maybe we didnt lowball him, sounds like we offered what he was worth. i think hes pissed at us and bringing him back could be bad for the chemistry of the team.

it would have to be at the expense of kasper....right?
I'd think it might be at the expense McAddley who was outplayed by Kasper and who seems to have regressed from last year.

One thing about Mar Tay, though. When he was playing for us, he was entrenched as a #3 wideout. Before he left us for Atlanta, there was buzz that he'd become our #2 receiver.

At this stage of the season, he'd come in somewhere around #5 (after Gilmore, Foster, Boldin and Johnson) or #6 (given Kasper's very good summer). Do you really think his ego could accept that?

This ones appropriate in this thread as well:

Screw his attitude! The guy is an azz hole who took FAR LESS money to sign with Atlanta and then BAD MOUTHED this organization once he got there! Saying that we were to cheap to show him the money!

That stinks anyway you look at it! Quite frankly Im shocked that any of you would want someone of such character on the team! Especially being that he has questionable hands to begin with!

He is no better than the talent level we currently have on the team as far as Im concerned!

shane...your comments are valid - but I think we need him badly on special teams. After martay went down last year due to injury - we suddenly could not cover punts anymore (although some of the credit should go to gilmore - he was injured also and was very good gunner - a job he appears to be no longer doing). The worst part of this team during the preaseason was coverage on punts and kickoffs - and martay could help with that...

I would speculate that martay knows he errored and hopefully he has changed his mindset..he thought he would be a star elsewhere - but getting cut by the falcons (and given the relative inexperience of the guys they kept) - has probably made him realize the incorrect assessment he had of his market value...also...he should probably get a new agent...martay would now have something to prove - and we need his skillset on special teams.

I would like to have him back as well. However not at Kaspers expence. I think Mcaddley has to be the one to move on or go onto the practice squad. I will be reallt upset if Kasper goes that guy has a heart as big as Texas.

An ego can shrink if one is jobless. He would have to swallow his pride to come back here.

I agree that MarTay would immediately be our best KR and Gunner.

The year Martay almost made the probowl as a special teamer, he was a good kick returner. Why? That year, he was trying to make a name for himself and played KR like a mad man.

The next year, when he became the #3 WR, his attuditue was like "why should I risk myself as a KR when I'm now a starting WR". He was tentitive and eventually got benched as the KR.

I don't think he will ever get that fearless attutidue back as a KR, so I wouldn't really want him playing as the KR again.

But, he is a very good gunner on special teams so I'd take him back again as a gunner.

Now, how will his ego handle it? Don't know. I may consider waiting until week 1 is over before signing him (if someone else wants him, so be it). That way, he will have the fear of being cut on him all year. If the Cards sign him now, he gets paid for the entire year no matter what.

I read today that the Packers told the agent for receiver/return man MarTay Jenkins that they’re not interested in signing him.

I guess the Cardinals can get him if they still want him.

I guess the Cardinals are backing off on Jenkins a little too. I now read the following statement below in a different Green Bay paper. I wonder if teams are waiting until after the first game to sign him so they don't have to guarantee his yearly salary, or if teams just aren't that thrilled with his ability?

JENKINS NOT IN THEIR PLANS

Ron Slavin, an agent for free agent MarTay Jenkins, said Monday that the Packers have backed off on their pursuit of the wide receiver/return specialist.

Slavin had contact with Packers officials on Monday morning and was left with the impression that Jenkins wasn't suited for what they needed.

Although Jenkins led the NFL in kickoff returns last season with an average of 28 yards for Arizona, he's not well-versed on punt returns.

The Packers had expressed interest in Jenkins after he was released by Atlanta on Saturday. Sherman declined comment when asked where things stood with Jenkins on Monday.

Slavin said Arizona, which is where Jenkins would prefer to play next, also has cooled on the idea of bringing him back.

Oh, well I'm glad we are next on his short list of teams he would "prefer" to play for.

Me thinks he would just "prefer" not to stop getting game checks.

He left AZ to play w/ Mike Vick in ATL.

That wasn't the smartest decision but he was probably entranced with the idea of playing with mike v.

Why not bring him back?
Give me one good reason why not?

He feels that sting of pride messing with him. Maybe he is realizing that he was the comodity that he thought he was. He has just learned the harshness of the NFL. Stay with teams that want you. Bye bye Martay.

1) He's not a good receiver.
2) He's a malcontent.

1) His hands are horrible!
2) He bad mouthed this organization when it wasnt even close to being justified
3) He isnt as talented as the players on the team right now
