Giants' Canty close to return
Canty won’t play this week against the Cardinals – he hasn't been cleared to practice on Wednesday – but he reported "significant progress'' in the calf injury that has kept him on the sideline. Canty has played in only one game this season, missing the opener with a strained hamstring and the past three games with a calf injury.
Last week, Canty underwent a procedure to stop the bleeding in his calf that that appears to have quickened the healing process.
"The swelling has gone down significantly so we're excited about it,'' Canty said. "Clearly the treatment process was going along but we're trying to everything we can to speed up the recovery. This is the best the calf has felt since I injured it.''
Canty admitted he's "kind of getting antsy right now'' and that it was difficult to watch his teammates get overwhelmed by the Saints. "Frustration sets in a little bit,'' he said. "I kind of have to put my blinders on and go about my business to get myself healthy and back out there.''

Tom Coughlin said no one said to him that RT Kareem McKenzie suffered a torn groin muscle in the second quarter against the Saints but clearly McKenzie is hurting. Coughlin said McKenzie "seemed to be a little better'' the day after the injury occurred and that "there wasn't as much bleeding as their could have been.'' It appears McKenzie won't be available this week and could miss more than one game. Rookie Will Beatty would make his first NFL start Sunday against the Cardinals.
Eli Manning said the plantar fasciitis in his right heel is no longer an issue. "It's in good shape,'' he said.
WR Mario Manningham said he got hit in the back and ribs and was in some discomfort but said he'll be fine. "I'm a fighter, I'm going to be all right,'' he said.
ME: This post is fresh off the rack.McKenzie won't play and the rookie Beatty will start Sunday night.Boldin had a clear x-ray and probably will miss most of practice this week from another story I read from N.Y.Times.This will be the first time this group of 5 will have a new starter in 30+ games. So we'll I'm sure be going after the rookie this week as we did the 3 year player last week in Seattle.
If Manningham can't go full speed Hixon will take his place. The N.Y. Times does'nt share Mario's very positive report.I'd guess Mario would know himself but one other Times story said mario might miss next Sunday nights game.I'm sure they'll go easy on him during practice. One good hit on him and he may be down.Hixon has only caught 11 passes this season.
Glad we don't have to face Canty this Sunday night either.I'm sure he's biting at the bit to get back and help his team.Especially after a loss like that.Hope we don't use Boldin as a decoy. If he's too hurt to go 100% then he should sit this one out.We need every bit of speed we can get.
