Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama ... a tackling machine who flies to the ball, Foster shows a good combination of agility and speed for a 240-pounder. He's one of the 10 best players in this class ....

I would love this pick, an exciting Luke Kuechly type player would be so much fun to watch each game.

Then use our R2 pick on a great CB and we would be pretty set on the D side.

I don't know if Chris Johnson is returning, but I feel we need someone we can spell DJ some so we don't burn him out too quickly. I have him in my dynasty league for 3 more years, but wouldn't mind if they cut back on his number of snaps each game.

I wouldn't mind us making a trade with the Chargers for either WR Inman or Tyrell Williams. They may not need both if Allen returns in top form, and/or they use their top pick on one of the stud WRs in the draft.

Would be ecstatic if this happens. Most of the big boards have him in the mid to late teens.

If we suck enough the rest of the year and get a top 10 pick, could we parlay our first rounder to drop down and scoop up an early 2nd? That could work wonders...

There are some decent RBs in FA coming out that would compliment DJ and spell him in games. Should be able to pick one up on the cheap as a backup to DJ and then the team still has Perry and Williams.

Going to be about 1,000 mocks before the actual draft. They are fun to follow but lots going to happen to the Cards roster before the draft takes place.

He's not even in the same class as Kuechly. LK is the best linebacker I've ever seen in college. he won every single defense award you can win his number flat out blow Fosters away when LK was the one guy on his team that you always had to account for he didn't have that Bama supporting cast.

In 3 years
Foster tackles: 190

Kuechly tackles: 532

I wouldn't take any Alabama defensive player none of them has gone on to be a star a lot of "solid" guys but no stars.

Landon Collins looks to be on his way with the season he's having.

I wouldn't take a Alabama CB, that's really it. Give me a Alabama ILB, DL, or Safety anyway, though.

You forgot Marcell Dareus...who's an absolute beast. But he's pretty much the only exception.

I would be all for these picks, if we became a run first offense. We have all been hypnotized by the majesty of a galloping David Johnson. CJ.5k always comes to play, so if he can stay healthy, the offense could focus on clock management and moving the chains. The variables we would be missing are a decent possession receiver not named Larry Fitzgerald, a healthy and upgraded offensive line, and a serviceable special teams to switch the field. The big question is whether or not Bruce can let go of the bulk receiver sets, the naked pocket, and the **** it n' chuck it mentality. We are closer than this season has felt, but it will take some adapting from the top down. Also, fire Amos Jones.

Reuben Foster would be an awesome pick. He's a Patrick Willis type player.

Do you guys actually watch college football? He's not a Patrick willie Lk type player he's not sideline to sideline or the guy to be 20 yards downfield in coverage hes a downhill thumper more than anything that's what Alabama wants out of that position

I do watch and he is a typical Alabama player. A good athlete on a great team and that team is great because they have "good" athletes at all of the positions. Guys like Keuchly are easy to spot as great because they are all that team has. Alabama athletes
"look great" but aren't individually. They play in a defensive and offensive system where the sum is greater than the parts.

Donta Hightower & CJ Mosley pretty damn good ILBers in a league where there is a lacking at the position. Hightower is one of the most underrated ILBers in the league if you ask me.

:notworthy:
Lol, I put on a video of him and two of the first 3 plays, one he's about 20 yards downfield breaking up a pass, and two, he's running down a RB on the sideline.

But, you're right, I hardly ever watch college football .

I'm not sure, but wasn't it you who told me #10 overall pick, Eli Apple, wouldn't go in round 1 last year?

You know, for a roster that was described as the most talented ever 90 days ago--

Go through players ranked in draft sites 1-20. About 16 of them I say "yeah, that guy could help". With the exception of RB or maybe safety ........

Don't really remember saying apple wouldn't go in the first round but who knows maybe.

CJ Mosley and Hightower are always brought up when talking about Alabama linebackers. They are solid NFL Players just like Minter neither would be a huge upgrade or even an upgrade at all really.

So far 2016

Kevin Minter
Tackles 62 Sacks 3.5

Donta Hightower
Tackles 61 Sacks 2.5

CJ Mosley
Tackles 59 Sacks 0

There is perception and then there is reality. I don't think Foster even compares to Zach Cunningham from Vandy

Tackles 62 Sacks 3.5 (45 solo/17 asst)

Donta Hightower (on 625 snaps)
Tackles 61 Sacks 2.5 (29 solo/32 asst)

CJ Mosley (on 669 snaps)
Tackles 59 Sacks 0 (40 solo/19 asst)

I've added some details to your stats, because they are relevant. Also, the tackle stats do not show missed tackles or bad pass coverage, the latter being a weakness of Minter's. They do not show how much progress the runner makes after first contact with Minter, as K9 likes to joke about Minter being dragged 3 yards before the runner goes down.

It is difficult to compare if Mosley or Hightower would be improvements, but we will see Sio Moore side by side with Minter and that should give us a good look at comparing him to another actual linebacker in the same defense rather than comparing him to Bucannon or the likes of Fua, G Martin or any other UDFA that we have had as a backup the last two years.
