The end of the Iowa high school basketball season means that track and field season is full steam ahead.
The Dickinson Relays, Wartburg Invitational and IATC Indoor Championship highlighted the opening week of action.
Here are the nominees for the Iowa City Press-Citizen's high school Athletes of the Week for March 10-16. Press-Citizen.com readers vote to decide this week's winners. Voting closes at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Players are listed in alphabetical order by last name.
Decker kicked off his sophomore track season with a pair of runner-up finishes.
Decker took home second place in the 1600 meters (4:19.44) at the Dickinson Relays on March 10. He followed that up with a second-place finish at the IATC Indoor Championships in the 3200 meters (9:06.08) on March 14.
Merrill took home gold during the Wartburg Invitational on March 10.
The second-year Trojan earned first place in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:33.42.
Miller took home third place in the 2A boys long jump at the IATC Indoor Championships.
The highly touted football recruit jumped 20 feet, 5.25 inches to earn a bronze medal.
Roe earned third place in the 55-meter hurdles at the Wartburg Invitational.
Roe had a time of 8.16 to take home a bronze medal. He was also a part of the seventh-place 4x200 relay team.
Seals was named Athlete of the Meet after setting two meet records at the IATC Indoor Championships.
Seals earned first place in two events, the 60-meter hurdles (8.05) and the 60 meters (6.84). He was also a part of the third-place 4x100 relay team in 3A.
Naeve took home fourth place in the 2A girls high jump at the IATC Indoor Championships.
Naeve recorded a jump of 5 feet, 1 inch. She was also a part of the 4x100 relay team and the 60-meter hurdles.
Olivo placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles at the Dickinson Relays.
Olivo had a time of 9.29 in the event. She also competed in the 200 meters.
Simpson earned a runner-up finish at the Wartburg Invitational.
Simpson clinched second place with a time of 1:03.22 in the 400 meters.
Stahle competed in three events at the Dickinson Relays.
Stahle was a part of the 4x200 meter relay team that finished in ninth place. She placed 13th in the 200 meters and 15th in the 60-meter hurdles.
Thigpen earned first place in the 4A long jump at the IATC Indoor Championships.
The third-year Lightning posted a jump of 16 feet, 10.75 inches to take home a gold medal. She was also a part of the 4x100 and 800-meter sprint medley relay teams.

Keegan Decker, Soph., Iowa City Liberty
Decker kicked off his sophomore track season with a pair of runner-up finishes.
