And I disagree, it is all within the consumer's control.......move if you can't get it, make a tower to place a dish on if there is an obstruction, there ARE options.

If the NFL is fundementally opposed to providing access to NFL Sunday Ticket to everyone, then they should give back all they money they took from the general public for the financing of their stadiums.

Why? You have just as much right as the next guy to go to that stadium on Sunday and watch the game.

When we moved back to AZ while looking for a home we lived in an apartment for about a year, I rigged a little support for my dish and it worked great....I'd be happy to email you a drawing of what I did.

If it's that important to you, yes. When looking for a home that was one of the things(not a huge importance but still was a consideration) we looked for.

I'll give you my situation. My apartment faces north, the tree outside my balcony even stops me from putting a dish on a pole and facing it south over the roof.

My girlfriend's apartment, in the same complex, has a south balcony. There's a tree in front in the parking lot that has always blocked access by dish. Last winter several branches came down in a storm, they cut more branches as a safety precaution and suddenly that tree is not an issue.

But, there's a tree about 100 feet away in a different complex that MIGHT be an issue.

I happen to really like where i live, for years I had rent control (San Jose) when rents all around me were skyrocketing(Cupertino). I like the area, I like everything except I can't get Directv. I HOPE I can now, I won't know for sure until tomorrow morning when my professional installer tries to figure out why I can't get a signal with my pole and stand setup.

When I moved in there I don't even think it was legal to put a dish up I believe that law came in later(I have been there nearly 10 years now).

I'd like to move permanently, be it condo, townhouse you name it, but that's something I'm saving for. I don't want to move just to get southern exposure, and I guarantee you my girlfriend won't move for that reason.

I guarantee you I'm not alone. 2 people in the complex saw me trying to set up the dish recently and said "I'm a Dolphin/Jet fan can I watch games at your place on Sunday?" THey all have the same problem, no shot at the South in that complex.

The bar across the street says they show all games, they do, but most have no sound, most are tucked away in corners on small tv's, AND, they reserve the right to turn off less watched games to accommodate the crowds. Which means more than once off went the Cards game so more 49er fans(who are on every weekend anyways) can buy food and drink and watch there. I understand why, it's simple economics they make more money off them than they will off Cards fans since there are so few in the Bay Area, but it limits my ability to see the games.

I personally think the NFL is underestimating how much people would pay to watch their favorite team each weekend.

Don't we all agree it should be open to other providers?

I do agree with Card Trader on his last point:
If people want it bad enough they will find a way.

I completely understand, but the fact STILL remains that you DO have the option to move.

Agreed. I could move, it's just not an attractive option for me at the moment.

My question to you, do you believe that the NFL wouldn't make more money if they just had the service avaialable to everyone on a pay for season ticket basis?

I guess that was the point of my first post, they ran the numbers and think they make more money this way because Directv pays so much for exclusive rights. I just have hard time believing their math because I know so many people who would pay 10-15 bucks a game to watch the game of THEIR choice. You do the math for annual service and I just can't believe they are really making more money this way?

The difference, one is gauranteed money, the other option is "potential" money....as a businessman which would you take?

Agreed but the "half naked body" makes up for a lot and now I'm trouble with Brighteyes.

I can't remember who posted it, but someone said that DirecTV has a service that allows entire apartment complexes to get DirecTV with just one satellite, perhaps you guys should lobby your apartment manager about getting a dish put up. They could just tie the line into the existing cable lines. Could possibly help them get customers as well.

Don't forget the people,LIKE ME!, who aren't allowed to install a dish because of apartment complex rules. I checked the FCC regulations and I don't fall into the "right to install" category. I am now going to install my dish on a tripod and sneak it in and out every Sunday, if I even get a reception. I ordered the equipment too late and will miss the first week and possibly the second week, so I'll be expecting some good game summaries from those who were able to watch.

But there are people who want Sunday Ticket, have the money to subscribe to Sunday Ticket, but are arbitrarily denied DirecTV for technical reasons totally beyond the control of the consumer.

Nonsense, unless your apartment or condo complex screws you over. So sue them instead of blaming the NFL.

Nobody owes any of you free NFL football.

Exactly, you all are aiming your anger at the wrong people.

Get the apartment complex to put the stupid thing on the roof and have someone run the cable all the way to your apartment.

Or better yet just have the guy do it and start watching.

Likely be a long time before they notice it up there.

Hehehe. I watch every Cardinals game, either in person or on T.V.

When I couldn't afford the Season Tickets I listened on the radio.

The reasons are based on simple economics. If it is that important, move or go to Santisi Brother where you can watch EVERY game simultaneosly.

Besides I would never agree with a Mesonite begging for Patriots games anyway.

Here's a potential option for people who can't set up the DirectTV dish at their home or Apt.

Have a tailgate party every Sunday in your Parking lot or in your driveway. They almost give away 27" TV's now so get one of them, set up your Sattellite on the roof of your car with the TV and Receiver in the back if you have a truck or SUV or on a table if you have a sedan. Sure it will be a pain lugging all that stuff outside but Cardinal football is worth the effort.

If it rains you can still go to a sports bar. You could even get one of those Picnic canopies you see at soccer games to cover the TV and reduce the glare. A portable propane heater could enable you to continue to tailgate into November and December.

You might even be able to turn some people who live in your complex into Cardinal fans.

Hopefully after a few weeks of getting complaints about crazed Cardinal fans partying in the parking lot your complex will get a "community" dish.

DirecTV has a portable unit for hooking up on an RV. I don't know what it costs, but I'd guess the dish would have to be on a swivel and (because RV's move) they'd make it easy to adjust to the correct sight-line to the satellite.

You could either sneak the dish out to your window ledge - or maybe you could drive to a nice picnic area (possibly with an aux generator) and have your own tailgate party each Sunday. (Ooops! Didn't see the previous post. Great minds think alike...)

Along these lines, I've heard that there are a number of sports bars in the Valley that somehow avoid the blackout on DirecTV (I'm sure they're registered in a different ZIP Code or something).

If someone knows one of these bars, could you please PM me? I don't really want anyone to post it, because someone might be obligated to "turn them in", and that kills the Golden Goose.

Thanks.
