Memphis Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr. is making his return against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday.
Jackson missed the last five games while nursing a left ankle sprain. Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said Jackson was a "true gametime decision" heading into Friday's showdown.
Memphis went 4-1 without Jackson, but the defensive anchor's return should help strengthen the Grizzlies on both sides of the ball. Jackson is averaging 22.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.3 steals.
Jackson's return will help fortify a frontcourt that has had its depth tested in recent games. Zach Edey and Brandon Clarke returned on Wednesday after missing a game, but Santi Aldama remains out. Aldama will get more workouts over the next couple of days before a potential return, Jenkins said.
Friday's game against the Cavs is the first leg of a back-to-back. Memphis will return to action on Saturday against the Miami Heat.
