Breaking: CBS cancels 'Ghost Whisperer' and 'Old Christine'
by Michael Ausiello

In a stunning move, CBS has axed both Ghost Whisperer and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Also gone: Gary Unmarried, Cold Case, Miami Medical, Accidentally on Purpose, and Numb3rs.

Medium and Rules of Engagement, meanwhile, have been renewed.

Fans may want to hold off on eulogizing Ghost and Christine for a day or two. There’s an outside chance that ABC (which co-owns GW and has long coveted Christine) may swoop in and rescue one or both.

“There’s a 50/50 shot that Christine will move to ABC,” says one source. A reprieve for Ghost appears less likely. Final decisions are expected later this week. In the meantime, my Bubble Show Scorecard has been updated.

But hey, since it probably makes you feel better, you can attack me to your heart's content. Some things do stay the same. ;)

Sorry about the cancellation, but the show probably wasn't in a very good position to begin with. These late season shows rarely survive, unfortunately. It's like releasing movies in January and February.

Sorry to hear that. At least you had the best episode of the 5 that I watched!

Plus you got your foot in the door and have something else to put on the resume. Any other potential pilots you might be working on that we should keep an eye out for?

Exactly. I didn't think much of the show, but you definitely had the biggest impact on it to make it better, IMO. Hey, you take your shots where you can get 'em, man. You have talent and you should get picked up on other projects, bro.

Encouragement: You got a screen credit, dude. You're in. Your resume is 100 times better now regardless what happened to the show. Don't be shy. Put that sucker right at the top in bold and be proud, tell the next people it was a good show that the suits just couldn't understand, or it just didn't have good timing with the audience, or there were too many medical shows, it was in a bad time slot. Lots of reasons, none of them your failure. What you can say is someone with a greenlighted show saw you were capable and gave you a spot at their work table.

You'll bounce back even faster this time, bud.

Sorry to hear about the cancellation but you got your foot in the door. You probably learned a lot in such a short time and for that experience, you'll probably be a better writer in your next endeavor.
