I always hated how he'd tell the media "I'm feeling great, the best I've felt in a long time, I'm ready to play at that all-star level again" then he'd look like crap and be out again for a long time. He'd say he came back to early, really wasn't ready. Then a couple months later the exact same process repeated itself...again and again.

Now Penny is saying the same crap again. I don't wish any ill will upon the man, he's just been delusional (or dishonest) about his health and abilities.

I never felt the same level of hate toward Googs, but some of it was Penny's attitude. He wanted to be treated like the superstar he once was rather than the journeyman he had turned into. That is part of why his continual claims he was going to be all the way back grated so much.

At the same time, Penny insisted on starting despite the fact that JJ was playing better (even before he found his shot). Usually Penny didn't, but he complained endlessly about it and did everything he could to undercut JJ's confidence.

i don't remember Penny complaining through the media about starting. I remember him saying he thought he was back, but most athletes delude themselves.

Understand isn't the right word. I've understood for a while that there was ill feelings towards him. I guess I am a bit surprised at the magnitude of it.

I am curious to see exactly why people dislike him so if you would be so inclined to tell me your opinion, I'd appreciate it.

I didn't hate him, but I understand why some people do. He whined ALL THE TIME and constantly gave the fans false hope. Fans have a long memory.

There has been a little history with the past management putting pressure on players to come back too soon from injury. Penny is a prime example. Kidd was also pressured to come back too soon after he broke his ankle when they played the Spurs. Even Amare after his microfracture surgery had his pressures.

I think it's a little unfair to put all the blame on Penny. It was the Suns signed him to that big contract knowing that he wasn't completely healthy.

Maybe you can get him for his attitude, and I'll agree with George's point that he held JJ down by insisting on starting, but I just don't take the disliking him route I guess.

He's been warned by mods yet still brings it up. I admire that it doesnt bother you, but it bothers me greatly. he is full of himself and his issues, and it needs to stop.

With the amount you rip into azirish for his comments and how it detracts from many subjects Im surprised you find this strange.

I let a handful of his comments go by unresponded since sunsman44 has come back, but im sick of it, so Im hoping if I draw attention to it for a short while it will go away quicker

squeaky wheel gets the grease

yeah, there's a distinction there - all of my comments towards George are BASKETBALL related, questioning how he came to his opinion or whether or not his statements of fact are true or not - again, all related to BASKETBALL. Not sure how disagreeing with his BASKETBALL opinions and offering my own or asking him how he arrived at his opinions detracts the subject he's normally brought up, but whatevs.

Bottom line, if he's bothering you, you can just put him on ignore, rather than calling more attention to someone you already think is an attention *****.

Well I was over it again, and the topic was back on course, but we are bringing it up yet again? How is this helping matters? It hasnt been discussed in nearly two pages. How does this help matters? My goal is to bring attention to annoying matters when they happen, then move on. What you two are doing is called beating a dead horse. The distinction is that I wont redirect a thread if the questionable part is on another page. If its the last response and has the potential to affect the rest of the thread, ill pipe up. And it's not as simple as putting him on ignore, if you read my posts youd see that I respect most of his posts, that are BASKETBALL RELATED.

His actions were enough to be suspended for a couple days, but im not allowed to express that im bothered with it, after he comes back and talks about it yet again?

I dont get why it was valid for you to bring it up yet again. But whatever, I am definitely to blame...

If I'm going to get criticized for expressing my discontent regarding suspendable actions I'm done talking about it or complaining about it, last post about it right here. Youre welcome

I thought it was the opposite actually. JJ struggled and was very inconsistent but was allowed to start, because the coaching staff didn't want him to lose his confidence. Hardaway played better during that stretch, but was coming off the bench.

I'm a Penny fan. He wanted to play for the Suns. He's the biggest reason for the last time that we beat the Spurs in the playoffs. He was one of those players that picked it up a notch in the playoffs. I wish I could say that about our entire current roster.

I also did get sick of him during the offseason, when he said he was going to be better than ever(what a huge lie), but at least he brought it in the playoffs, and that probably cost him his career(playing on the bum knee against the Spurs in the playoffs).
