It would be refreshing to hear something publicly from Michael.

With Whis and then Arians it appeared that the Cards had reached another level and would remain competitive each year. It felt like we had established a "culture of winning" as they say.

Man, did we free fall from that pretty fast.

We either make corrections and right this ship quickly or we could be in for many years of being mediocre again.

Right about now, I would kill for mediocre:(

I think Jon's talking about Michael's stance on keeping politics out of sports for the players, but turning around and getting himself willingly knee deep in the Kavanaugh crap. Also, it looks hypocritical to punish players for DUIs, while keeping that fat freaking two-time DUI offending drunk as the General Manager of those players.

Double Ditto.

Mikey has to learn a little humility, and if he doesn't after this year, well, that is very telling about the man running this organization. Heirs to fortune can have SERIOUS issues with reality.

Off the top of my head I can't remember any players of any NFL team being punished for a DUI. Not saying it hasn't happened. I just don't remember any being suspended for a game let alone a month.

Termination is worse than suspension isn't it? Michael Floyd and that TE we had that got a DUI as a rookie (can't remember his name--the one who got a Cardinal tattoo). The team has taken a tough stance previously with players and DUI's so there was precedence.

I'm beginning to believe that Michael is no different than his father.

Not willing to go that far yet. Seen some major progress in the last 10 years or so. But agree with some other posters this off season is definitely a defining moment for him.

I forgot about both of those guys. Floyd had a chance to remain but he refused to accept responsibility for his actions. I can't remember the TE's name. He was a fringe player I believe.

Question: Would you rather Michael be non-interventionist or be another Daniel Snyder or Jerry Jones? I don't mind him keeping to the background until the end of the season. Yes it would be nice to hear something from him now but what would be the point?

Don't want him to be like those other owners but it just seems to me that he was much more visible/vocal when we were winning than he has been this season. We have enough fair-weather fans. We don't need a fair-weather owner. He's got some big decisions to make and hopefully he's been spending his time focusing on those kind of things. Time will tell.

I think we are well past this season and situation affecting fair weather fans. This is deep enough to start sending die hards on their way.

Actually I think MB is much less involved in those things than most owners in the NFL. He made a bad hire in Wilks. Happens to the best. Keim was a good hire at the time and brought some success. But Keim was a year too late with the rebuild and missed on quite a few FA signings, letting good player leave while signing the likes of Gresham and Pugh to big deals. Actually I think his 2018 draft set us up well for the future. Coupled with his early success, I think it will ultimately buy Keim another season with a new HC. At least that what me thinks MB will do. Though the offseason DUI coupled with this embarassing season could maybe be enough for MB to pull the plug on Keim.

I have always been with you on this line of thinking, but now I have been taking a different stance. If they only fire Wilks and they let SK hire a new coach, and SK has another bad draft, gets pulled over in a road rage incident, takes a babies lolly pop or whatever, and gets fired then we're probably looking for another coach within a year of that. That would be three head coaches in three years, not good for stability. I am starting to think of a clean sweep, and I just started to feel that way today.

I think MB is more hands on than people realize. Even Wilks said this week Keim, Bidwill and Wilks talk about players, schemes etc.

Of note, I dont know what the silence from MB means currently about this team

Kent Somers always refers to Michael Bidwill as a hands on owner. I'm sure he's involved at a very detailed level. He's got a very big decision coming in two weeks time let's hope he makes the right one and is not overruled by the rest of the family.

Mike has done a very nice job with the team since taking over especially considering what he had to work with initially (basically an expansion level type roster and an old college football stadium)

Totally agree & have been saying this a well. generally speaking a new GM likes to pick “his guy” or someone they are familiar with.

Peyton Peyton Peyton lol

I still say our scouting department needs an overhaul as well.

Looks like most of us here are looking at it this way. Need to get rid of both of them and start over.

Hopefully MB can find the right GM to lead our team to success.

Here are two with ties to our team (DUI offense happened while on the Cardinals). Floyd got a month (4 games) for his extreme DUI.

Bobby Massie suspended 3 games for violation related to DUI arrest

NFL suspends Vikings' Michael Floyd four games for DUI arrest
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-suspends-vikings-michael-floyd-four-games-for-dui-arrest/

There are many more for players on other teams. I know for a long time there was no established punishment and the league could not change that until the next collective bargaining agreement. Here's an old law firm blog about it:

Should the NFL Give Harsher Suspensions for DUI?
https://www.wklawdui.com/nfl-give-harsher-suspensions-dui/#ref3

The above Floyd article summarizes the current DUI punishment by the league:

"Absent aggravating circumstances, discipline for a first offense will be a suspension without pay for two (2) regular or postseason games," the policy provides. "If the Commissioner finds that there were aggravating circumstances, including but not limited to felonious conduct, extreme intoxication (BAC of .15% or more), property damage or serious injury or death to the Player or a third party, and/or if the Player has had prior drug or alcohol-related misconduct, increased discipline may be imposed."

Yup - thanks for the links.

3 games (Like Massey Got) is 20% of the season.

As was stated at the time... Floyd was released because he showed no remorse... It wasnt the fact that he got a dui...but that he didnt give a poo about it.
That is not a mild distinction

True and since I have followed this team (1967) they seem to lead the league in strikeouts.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I respected some of Bills moves in Arizona - that went bad - but I thought Buddy Ryan was a big swing by Bill - Buddy had won 10 games a season in our division for years, when Bil hired him. I seen good solid fundementally reason on each of his hires in Arizona - Bill was a depression baby and frugal, unlike his Dad who hired the first milllion dollar backfield - a huge swing in his day.

After BA I gave Michael some latitude, thought he knew inside information we didn’t on Wilks - but this guy didn’t even have an offensive plan and hired it out to McCoy, who was fired twice recently - blamed Bradford publically fired him, fired McCoy and hired BA holdover with a whole 1 freaking year of coaching as OC! That’s the best offensive mind we have available on Wilks staff? Crying shame-

Michael no longer has my confidence - must earn it back at this point. We have great core players that want out of town because they were wasted in their prime - I mean it happens - but better coaches didn’t want the job. But to ask what coordinators your bringing on board and what offense you plan to run - dunno is not a great answer. We fans didn’t know that until after the hire - not evening mentioning turning a decent defense into crap - what was asked ? What was answered? We seen what happened - it’s stnking all over the field.
