Per Scout and Rivals Corona Centennial QB Michael Eubank committed to the Devils.

Ht: 6-5 Wt: 220

I honestly thought he would go down south. Way to keep the Corona Centennial pipeline going!

This kid didn't have the most impressive list of schools in the world offering him (UofA, Washington, Cincy), but itll be nice to have the option of a running QB down the road if the Coaches choose to go that way.

I saw this kid play in the CIF title game and honestly did not understand why UA was recruiting him. It was in terrible weather conditions but he's got a lot to work on. The measurables are all there but fundamentally he's a trainwreck. He's going to need a few years before he's ready for the Pac-12 but yeah, if that happens he could be pretty good with this size and speed.

As far as the UA/ASU thing - it's pretty pathetic how recruits are buying into Dennis Erickson's sales pitch over Mike Stoops when you compare their track record the past few seasons and the fact that Erickson probably has to go 8-4 or else he's canned. UA being on national TV so much this year has been a disaster for recruiting, everyone saw how insane our coach is.

$10 says this kid ends up playing a position other than QB.

Mao, when it comes to recruiting QBs ASU has a huge advantage in Mazzone. Not because he's a great coordinator, but because he's got a lot of hype behind his name. Head to head vs. UA, who is Mazzone's counterpart? That lack of identity has got to hurt.

Overall, I think Erickson is still pitching playing time, but with 50 juniors and seniors next year, it would have to be a super stud to break into the two deep. Even the o-line is going to be nine-guys solid. A kid like Hobbi ... he'll still have to redshirt if he stays home (which is what he SHOULD do -- redshirt I mean).

ASU really needs a LT and a big corner. I'm not sure they'll address either unless they can turn one of these in-state kids committed elsewhere.

I completelly agree with this and this is one thing I am excited about because that is when I was most impressed with him. His ability to run in open field. I also love that this continues the CC pipeline.

I think we can agree almost all incoming Offensive lineman should redshirt for a year.

Apparently Westerman may look elsewhere due to Texas' bad season and coaching shake up. Im sure ASU's chances are still insanely low, but it would be amazing if they convinced him to stay home.

Hobbi, Peat & Westerman would be an insane way to fill out the rest of the recruiting class (I think ASU will only get 1 of those though).

I got this email from the dad of one of the top AZ recruits from the past couple years so take it for what it is but these top instate athletes do know each other and do talk.

From someone in the know (my son)

Peat - ASU (if you get him you will get his brother Andrus who is the real stud in the family)

Hobbi - As of last week UCLA, ASU does have a good shot.

Westerman - Texas, if not the Longhorns then the front runner is Oregon.

Frank Scelfo I imagine. Was at Tulane as QB coach for Losman, Patrick Ramsay, etc. UA struggling to get QB's isn't Selfo's problem since his recruiting territory is Louisiana and his main focus is QB development, it's an issue with other members of the staff and their inability to forge relationships. That should get worse when we lose a couple more assistants here in the next few weeks.

I also wouldn't say that ASU has been knocking it out of the park either with Mazzone with QB development or recruiting. QB is probably the team's biggest weakness.

They wouldn't have landed Bercovici without him, and I doubt the kid would have been as solid all fall without Mazzone knocking his socks off in a private chalkboard session during his visit. That's where Mazzone excels. Same thing happened with Eubank. When Mazzone gets a QB one-on-one with a chalkboard, ASU has a distinct advantage.

He's been with the program for less than a year, so it's tough to gauge his total impact, but by most accounts he's already had a major impact on the QB play (which I don't think is the team's biggest weakness).

How is that? Threet was terrible and eventually benched.

The power of the magical chalkboard session is a good one though.

The Peats go to my old high school. I wish I would have taken some time to go watch them play now. I heard Stanford has a good shot at Todd, and that would be difficult to beat, especially since he seems to care about academics as well. But we'll see. Their father went to ASU if I heard correctly, so maybe that will factor in. Andrus will be even better if he can put on some weight. It's incredible the talent in that family...I remember Todd Peat being a stud on the varsity team since his freshman year and the '08 and '09 classes were the strongest Corona's had recently.

I think his father went to Northern Illinois, but played for the Cardinals.

Michael Eubank went 6-6 for like 140 2 TDs and 31 yards rushing in his appearance in the NUC all star game. He led the first drive and last drive for TDs and was named the MVP.
