Gambo says we are signing Micheal Redd tomorrow. Lets see if he is actually right for a change.

I know he is friends with Sarver so he may know something.

You beat me to it.

Coro reports:

The Suns could use a pure-shooting off guard whose unattached and has an All-Star resume. And there is one available.

Michael Redd, who has a scary knee history, worked out for the Suns at US Airways Center on Tuesday, and the Suns are considering signing the 32-year-old to address their need for scoring and shooting.

Redd worked out for the Suns along with free agent NBA veteran Ime Udoka and free agent Gilbert Brown, but Redd appears to have the primary interest. The Suns also had Redd's left knee examined because he has played only 61 games over the past three seasons due to two surgeries. Redd tore the anterior-cruciate ligament and medial-collateral ligament in his left knee in January 2009 and did it again in January 2010. He played only 10 games last season, averaging 4.4 points and 13.4 minutes and looking like a defensive liability for Milwaukee.

Before the injuries, Redd was a top NBA shooter who averaged more than 20 points for six consecutive seasons (2003-04 through 2008-09), topping out at 26.7 in 2006-07, and had a career 3-point shooting percentage of 38.3. Other teams, such as Indiana and New York, recently looked into signing the 6-foot-6 2004 All-Star now that he is a free agent coming off a six-year, $91 million contract with Milwaukee.

Redd who is 32 will soon join Nash (37) and Hill (39) in the starting line-up.

It's worth a try. I was wondering why they haven't looked into signing Redd, Posey, and/or Kirilenko.

Redd is a low-risk option. If he can't play, it's no big loss. If he can play, he could be a nice addition.

Better than starting Dudley.

We should have traded him while the value was high.

This team is unwatchable

It will be a long season even though it has been shortened. Even Steve Nash looks like he is in a coma.

I have always maintained Dudley is not s starting material, I really like Dudley but he is better coming off the bench with his energy/hustling.

I liked it when we picked up discarded vets like Jim Jackson, Tim Thomas and Jalen Rose to bolster our lineup back in the day when we were contending for something, but our current team needs to just die in peace IMO, not be propped up with more over the hill vets taking minutes from younger guys and guiding us to a slightly less crappy record (and a worse draft pick).

... not really a fan of this move. Its time for the franchise to move on, admit they are not anything resembling a contender and stop trying these patchwork moves that slightly bail water out of a quickly sinking ship.

I think 90% of the fan base is ready for the team to officially rebuild, the longer we put it off the more painful its going to be, and its looking really painful right now. Ship off Nash, if they can get a mediocre young guard and a 1st round pick in this years draft in exchange for him I would do it in a heart beat.

Redd will not play until next year....its going to take that long for him to learn the system, get familiar with coaches and players etc.

More of Dudley and Brown :(

I don't think the Michael Redd signing and the Suns rebuilding are mutually exclusive. They want to try for Nash and Hills sake to get some guys in here and win, I can understand and respect that. They'll keep trying through the mid point of the season and then at that time it'll be time to blow it up. It'll be more clear who the real contenders are, injuries may have happened to other teams PGs and it'll be a more clear market for where to deal Nash & Hill.

I liked Michael Redd as a player when he was healthy. I'd like to see him play well again. However, one has to ask if he is part of the Suns future or just a stopgap measure. I would rather look at young players. Gilbert Brown might have been a better option for a rebuilding team. When will the Suns admit the reality, they are in rebuilding mode whether they like it or not?

I think Dudley is good enough to be a legitimate starter, but he needs to play alongside a legitimate scorer who draws a lot of attention from defenders. He also needs to have someone create shots/ opportunities for him.

He is a very good defensive player who can hit open shots. There is a place in a starting lineup for guys like that, but you can't expect him to create his own shots and generate offense.

I like it. (I signed him in NBA 2k12...;))

Maybe he can pull a Grant Hill? May as well give him a shot.

based on your description of him, that doesn't seem like he's starter material.

If he helps us win its a fail bc of the draft. If he does not help us win he is just taking minutes from younger player that could use experience. Fail-fail.

They should have signed Gilbert Brown instead.

Why not?

Not every player can score 20 points every night by creating his own shots.
It is perfectly acceptable to have a starting shooting guard/ small forward that is not very good at creating his own shot, especially if he is a good defender.

Trade Nash, Send Hill to a contender, get whatever value you can get now, before Nashes stock takes a major dump

What makes you think that anyone is going to give up ANYTHING of value for Nash and/or Hill? I am sure there are some contenders that would take Nash and Hill, but they are not going to give up anything of any real value for either one of them. Would YOU give a first-round pick for Nash or Hill? I sure as hell wouldn't.

Redd won't play for another 2-3 weeks, so by then the Suns could be mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. What I don't get is why haven't the Suns management anticipated this, given the problems they had last year generating offense. They could have added Redd a month ago. Of course I have very little faith that Redd will be more effective than Carter was last year.

Reportedly Redd is 2-3 weeks from playing. It's interesting that he has already had a workout with contact. The below is a tweet from Paul Coro.

Redd signed a 1-yr vet minimum deal. He's up to 2 weeks away after getting winded at Tuesday's workout, his 1st play w/contact since April.

Also the Suns are keeping a 14 man roster.

Oh, I think they did anticipate this. That's why they brought in Brown and Telfair. Scared yet?
