Perhaps the Suns are looking at Redd as much for next season as this season. I know, scary as well, but why not see if they can rehab him.

Everybody who was worried about the Suns delaying the rebuilding process can now relax. They are currently one of the 4 or 5 worst teams in the NBA. I'm just grateful that they didn't trade anymore first round picks during the last few years.

They should have a LOT of ping pong balls in the hopper come next summer.

Knowing the suns luck, we'll have one of the worst records in the league and pick 10+

This is impossible... The worst a team can drop is 3 spots below their ranking... so if we have the 3rd worst record then the lowest we can pick is 6th.

Stern will make an exception for us.

Fire Stern and $arver sell the team. It's okay to have some veterans while getting youngsters learning to play. We need to get a young core in here.

Redd is now practicing with the team and reportedly about a week away from game action.

So, I start reading this thread and see the talk about Dudley this and Dudley that and I literally am picturing Chris Dudley in my head, not Jared Dudley....that's how little I think of Jared Dudley. And by that, it's not that I think poorly of him. I really like him being on my favorite team....but he's a great 8th guy. Energy guy off the bench.....To have this discussion as to whether Jared Dudley (not Chris) or Michael Redd should be starting shows what a tragedy this Suns team has become.....

Trade Nash to wherever he wants to go....let Grant Hill do whatever he'd like, blow up everything else and start over....you wanna keep a few guys like Dudley, Morris, etc, I'm OK with it, but get younger in a hurry....

It's fine to be an old team if you're pushing all your chips in for one last push....this ain't that....

Because it could potentially make the Suns better?

Yes, making our draft position worse. He also takes minutes from younger players. He is not part of the future solution, and there is not present hope.

Fortunately, we don't have much in the way of "younger players", at least not players of note. I have no problem bringing him in if it helps us win some games. I still want to see us trade Nash but who is going to give us anything for him if we start the season 3 - 25? Redd surely won't be enough to put us anwhere near the kind of record we'd need to convince everyone we were truly a contender. He'll probably either make us marginally better or he'll be released by Valentine's Day.

Let's face it, even with some help we're still a bad team. Our only two wins came almost entirely because of key injuries (Eric Gordon and David Lee) and we haven't exactly played a tough schedule yet either. I don't see Redd changing our fortunes all that much even if he rebounds to his pre-injury form.

Aside from Hill, Nash, and Redd -- and Redd doesn't really count -- the Suns' oldest player is Warrick at 29. They aren't an old team.

Nope, just stocked with guys that should be between 6-10 in an NBA rotation. Now if we could just get a couple decent starters...

Patience, my friend. Look to next year. We'll most likely add to quality starters plus a nice prospect from the draft.

....bummer, you're right.....they aren't old, they're just not very good. that's probably worse.

oh well, makes you appreciate the good years, and what i consider a good year seems to be a fluid kind of thing :)

You guys are acting like Michael Redd is a joke lol. The dudes a baller, when healthy. And if being healthy is the biggest knock against him, look at what the Suns Med Staff did to Steve Nash, Grant Hill, Amare Stoudemire, etc. I know some want higher pick, but if this team is gonna fight to win some games, I'm gonna watch no matter what the record is. If they don't even want to try, I would just not watch games till they did. Why should I care if they wont? (But the latter has yet to be the case)

I like Redd, but aside from being a good shooter, he was never really all that great. He was always a poor defender, and I don't recall him being very good at driving to the hoop.

When will Redd be ready to play?

This is looking like a Suns staff rehabbing job again. Remember what they did when Dice came, and then again with Shaq. They quickly recognized muscle imbalances and kept the players out a while to get them in proper playing condition.

It looks like Redd will make his debut Thursday or Friday in home games against the Cavaliers and/ or Nets. See link below.

Also it looks like the Suns home court will get another finish to make it grab more.

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/sun...108phoenix-suns-notes-michael-redd-debut.html

When we first signed Redd I kind of downplayed his impact on the team but watching them the last two games, I'm now somewhat hopeful. I don't want to get too high over a couple of home wins over tired/shorthanded teams but a healthy Redd could really fill some holes in this lineup.

A (healthy) lineup of Nash, Redd, Hill, Frye and Gortat bolstered by a solid second team of Price, Brown, Dudley, Morris and Lopez should be pretty competitive. In fact, I think it's more than enough to make the playoffs. It's still not enough to do a lot of postseason damage but it's probably the best we can hope for. Especially since it's pretty obvious this management group has no interest in positioning us for a high lottery pick. Now, if they can just find trading partners for Warrick and Childress!
