Last year, we had a distinct advantage over almost everyone. We were so close to winning the Super Bowl, and went up and down the field versus the best defensive team in all of football. By trading Boldin, we lose that advantage.

I want to win the Super Bowl this year.......we were so close, and I think another year together, it could be possible. Trading Boldin now negates this IMO.

We scored more than enough when Boldin was out all those games last season...

I cant say we totally lose that advantage. But Q Def had an impact in that game. He didnt have a Larry impact but he did have quite a good game and is one of the reasons we were able to exploit Pitts D.

I cant say for sure if we would have been able to do just as well passing(against Pitt) without Q. All I can say is how good we did with him.

Give Whiz and Co the benefit of a full preseason to draft/trade/acquire a replacement for Q. The full preseason to work in Breaston and Doucet. The full preseason to draft/trade/acquire a viable threat at RB, and a full preseason for the offense to come together without Q... Boldin will be missed, but not nrealy as much as people seem to think.

Boldin is a top 5-10 receiver in the league. IMO, you can't replace him via a draft pick........at least not this year........

That's a big "if", because "if" not, then we gave up a top 5-10 receiver for......less.

We need a better Defense and we are deep at WR.

We stop PIT on that last drive we're champs, defense needs to be a priority in this draft along with James' replacement.

If you could promise me that we'd have a good running game, I'd be alright with losing Boldin. Not to sound ungrateful for what he's done for the Cardinals, but we are in serious need of a running game.

How about this thought: We would have won the S.B. without Boldin because we would have thrown a fade to Fitz for a T.D. at the end of the first half instead of trying to force it to Boldin.

Or maybe the Cardinals already scored via a run? Maybe they go to Breaston? Difficult to say for sure what would happen. :mulli:

Or Kurt throws the fade badly and it gets picked again. Yadda yadda yadda.

All things being equal I would agree. The problem is they are never equal.

How many good years does Boldin have left? Will he be as good this year as last year? How good will Doucet be if given a chance to play every day?

I say Boldin has at least 2-3 years playing at a borderline pro bowl level barring injury. I don't think he will be better this year than he was last year because he is getting older. From what I've seen of Doucet I think he can be a very good receiver, maybe an above average receiver if given the chance to play.

What I do know is that it is probable that Boldin slows down over the next several years due to age and Doucet probably gets better over the next several years with experience.

What the Cards have to weigh is where they think these lines intersect, and the value of extra draft picks received for Boldin.

All very dicey if you ask me. If the offer was good enough I would make the move. It seems to me it would marginally hurt us this year but would tend to dissipate after that and it is probable in 2-4 years it would definitely pay off.

the Cards are taking the perfect approach. If they get ahuge offer then Boldin will be gone. If not, he's on the team next year.To me, they are in a no lose situation. My prediction is that he'll be gone (but only 60/40) because, like in Somer's article quoting Whiz about draft day, teams get very anxious about wanting certain players on draft day. I think some team will panic and come in with a "can't say no" offer in round 1. I just hope it doesn't reverse and the Graves panics, thinking we have to trade Q, and takes a lesser offer to move him. I doubt that happens because we know,if nothing else, Graves is very patient.

This year's Draft is not considered very strong at the top, but fairly deep at some positions. Since Wells and Moreno are not considered top ten picks, I don't view either as sure things, although I wouldn't mind if we drafted either one, but would keep my fingers crossed.

Seriously, nothing the Cardinals do in this scenario will be right.

If you trade Q, people are upset.

If you hold onto Q and he holds out and 'ruins the team chemistry' people are upset he didn't get traded.

Q can do the right thing for the Cardinals, but the Cardinals can't be right in this in the eyes of most fans.
