I thought going into this year we were probably an 8/8 team if all went well. Things have not gone well. We have had to(o) many injuries....

It's not so much the injuries, it's the mistakes. What injuries do is to make the margin for error much narrower. (But there are teams who rise to the occasion, keep the mistakes down to a bare minimum and overcome the injuries).

In our case, 10 penalties and 3 turnovers were too much for our gritty but injury-depleted team to overcome.

But don't think for a minute that it was injuries and not the number of mistakes that cost us that game.

I think injuries lead to mistakes Jeff. Certainly Warner made some mistakes he might not have made if he were not injuried. Boldin drops a crucial 1st down ball he might not have dropped had he not just come off a 3 week injury stint. Some of those lineman who were replacements may have let people get through had not the injured lineman they replaced been in there. Mistakes and injuries can go hand in hand. Injured or not I still think we were an 8/8 team going in which was ok with me. Next year I think we can win 9-10 games if all goes well and Leinhart turns out to be who we thought he was. No team is going far without a decent QB. You got to run and pass to be successful. Last passing team to be real good was Warner's old St Louis team and he used his receivers like runners.

Respectfully disagree. Last season we were relatively healthy, but allowed dumb mistakes to cost us a rash of football games.

This season, we were averaging 10 penalties a game before the injuries to Matt, Kurt, Q and others. Other teams don't get penalized as much as we do (We're now last in the league). Other NFL teams have as many or more injuries than we do, but don't get penalized as much.

Then there's the missed FG's and the XP - those have nothing to do with injuries.

Despite comments that we were going to play smart, tough, disciplined football this season, we got the "tough" part down good, but haven't figured out the smart and disciplined part yet.

It's just something some guys on this team have to focus on really really hard. (Ironcially, many of the culprits are our better players that our younger players look up to. That's not helpfu).

When the Cards signed Gandy to play left Tackle I didn't think he would be much more that a marginal backup. Man was I wrong!

Fast forward to today and I hope he is able to start in two weeks. Gandy has been a stud for us at LT this year. He has gone way above and beyond my expectations with his solid play.

Again -- the fickle finger of fate--

GAndy had been man handling Andre Carter all game long. Midway in the fourth quarter -- he goes out and has to be replaced by Levi Brown, on his own gimpy ankle and playing the left side for the first time in his pro career.

Five or six plays later, Carter sacks Warner causing a fumble inside the Redskin 15 yard line.

Football is a crazy sport.

I think what impresses me most is how much the offensive line has improved over last year. The starters are just outstanding which says alot about coach Grimm. Also, the substitutes have stepped up and maybe that says something about the GM building up the bench. Either way, it's a win/win for us Card fans.

Rookie tackle Levi Brown returned to the field Sunday, but not how he expected.
As promised, Elton Brown remained the starter at right tackle since Levi Brown had missed so much practice time with his ankle injury. But left tackle Mike Gandy hurt his right calf in the second and Levi Brown – who played the left side in college but has played nothing but the right side with the Cards – went in.
“For never having played there, I thought Levi did a good job,” Whisenhunt said, noting the exception of one snap.
Unfortunately, the mishap hurt the Cardinals. It was Brown who got a late jump off the snap and couldn’t get back to Redskins defensive end Andre Carter, who blindsided Warner and caused a lost fumble in the Redskins’ red zone.
“Mike got hurt and it seemed like the story of the year for me, somebody getting hurt and me going in,” said Brown, who originally got the starting right side job when Oliver Ross hurt his knee. “I gave up that one sack and that really hurt me, but I had to bounce back from that.”
I can't find it, but I read somewhere that Levi said with the crowd noise he did not hear the snap.

Thanks, we really need Levi on the right and Gandy healthy on the left. Hopefully the bye gets both back healthy
