from a falcons board:

Mike Nolan’s version of the 3-4 defense doesn’t believe in playing bend but don’t break type of defense. Nolan believes in attacking the quarterback whenever possible and using a combination of a 1-gap and 2-gap system at times. He likes to try and confuse the quarterback with exotic blitzing

The big issue with LeBeau is his scheme will put our strongest players on Defendes - our D line - in a roll of lesser importance much like Horton's scheme did, since it is the same thing. I don't think they want to revert back to the Horton schemes, but rather take Bowles schemes and add to them. For that purpose Nolan is a better fit.

I wasn't aware of it until I watched some Steelers tape, but for the past 2 seasons, LeBeau did run 1 gap attacking schemes more so than his usual 2 gap system.

Interesting. If we got him as an advisor AND Nolan we would have some unreal knowledge on the defensive side of the ball.

Hearing Mike Nolan isn't on the Cardinals radar, they're expected to hire a couple of coaches on defense as position coaches.
