With Clarett ruled eligable for this years draft it opens the door for players such as Williams who clearly is ready for the NFL and IMO would be by far the bast receiver in a great receiver draft. I do think if he enters he becomes the number 1 pick...

I thought all underclassmen had to declare before the deadline. Did Williams attempt to declare? What is that deadline date?

Who is this Mike Williams? I thought you were referring to reuniting Mike Williams and Leonard Davis on the offensive line.

Normally I would agree that would be the case, but with the Clarett ruling underclassmen such as Williams could contend that they were never led to believe they would actually be eligable for the draft and therefore did not apply by the deadline, if they had known that they could opt into the draft they would have certainly filed there paper work within the proper time frame.
Williams is the WR from USC... Probably the best I have seen in college. Great hands, speed, and size... Line this guy up next to Boldin and Johnson, and you have the best WR core in the league for years to come... absolutely no one could match up with us...

Mike Williams is probably the best WR in the country. I think he's better than Fitzgerald. The whole package: size, speed, hands, he's ridiculous. He played in the Pac-10 so that's probably why you Big 12 homers with your heads in the sand don't know who he is.

Mike Williams is a monster. He's the total package, and has the potential to be better than Randy Moss (no joke). He's got it all. He's a man among boys out there.

I think that what will happen with Clarett is that the NFL is going to string out the court battle as long as possible, then Clarett will enter the supplementary draft or the 2005 draft. I'm not sure that there are a lot of teams that would be willing to take a chance on him this early, and no one supports him coming out.

If the Clarett situation sticks, it could be the beginning of the decline of the NFL.

Good Lord! USC wins a national championship and the best college football player in the country is still unkown among some hardcore football fans?

And I thought swd's post a few weeks ago, "Hey! How about we draft Mike Williams in the fourth round?" was ridiculous!

Big 12 homers? I'm coming at you from Mountain West Conference territory. That's right, the POWERFUL and EXPLOSIVE Mountain West Conference.

Of course I'm kidding.

Well, that explains it. It is hard to rip your attention away from matchups like Utah-Wyoming..

Ok, how about a little Mountain West KoolAid?

Bradlee VanPelt. Colorado St. Love the guy. Draft him in round 3, he'll be a starter in the NFL.

He is a player.

I agree, but he seems to have dropped quite a bit since the beginning of the season. Any idea why?

So then by that statement you should have no opinions on the draft other than Cards teams needs, such that all players being drafted are coming out of college.

B-Dogg, everytime I see your name I think its me!

Anyway, Mike Williams is an incredible talent. He's about to set the schools four year records in two and a half years..he's a monster.

Whoever gets that guy will have a great player for years to come...if somehow he was on this team, our WR corp would be unstoppable. UNSTOPPABLE. Williams has the best hands I've seen in a long time, and he is HUGE, 6'8 I think.

6'4-6'5"

I understand he's a pretty fair basketball player too. This offseason I read a story about incoming hoop recruit Lodrick Stewart(or Rodrick his twin brother forget which) getting a dunk blocked by Williams in a campus pickup game. Stewart said it was a wakeup call to him about the talent of guys in college basketball, then he was told Williams is a FOOTBALL player (-:

He'll go into the supplimental draft and be picked #1 by the Chargers. Book it.

So that McCown Td pass just got a little costlier.

I enjoy stories like that. I remember watching the Jim Thorpe SportsCentury show and this guy talking about how Thorpe was 50 years old and at this exhibition football game. At halftime, they trot him out to the 50 yard line. He picks up a ball and drop kicks it through the goal posts!

I'm not saying Williams is anywhere near the stature of Thorpe or Jordan as an athlete, but he seems to sure be able to do things that make you say "Wow!" like those guys did.

Maybe Mike Williams doesn't want to come out this year maybe he wants to wait a year and be the sure #1 pick
