One site said he he was 39-60 from the floor 5-11 on 3's and I think 8-13 from the FT line, 28 rebounds 5 assists.

They won 116 to 92 so he nearly outscored the other team.

Here's his comment about committing to NC State.

"It's not just about basketball," he added. "I'm interested in math and stuff and they have a pretty good computer science program."

Forgot to add, this near as I can tell makes it official that Pitts is no longer a player for Arizona as Pinder got the 13th scholarship.

What is the story on Pitts?

Put it to you this way -- it's not good, and there was a lot of ambiguity surrounding the situation, anyway; but I would venture to guess that had Pitts been a star player, he would probably still be on the team.

All things considered, it's best that both parties go their separate ways.

According to DeAndre Ayton UA is one of 3 teams actively recruiting him now although the wording in the story is pretty odd. He said they call him regularly now and said he'd had nice "mediocre" conversations with all 3 of UK, KU and Arizona.

Seems like an odd way to put it so I'm wondering if mediocre was a misprint.

He is insisting he plans to go to college and will stay at Hillcrest Prep in Arizona.

So can anybody explain Miller contacting Marcus Lee about a transfer when he has no scholarships? Does he think someone else is leaving or that Alkins or Ferguson won't qualify?

Didn't one open up with Pitts transferring or did that last transfer UA picked up take that spot?

They had 14 until Pitts left so they're at the max.

A guy on BRO said there's a rumor that Lee played HS volleyball and is considering coming back to the West Coast on a volleyball transfer, play 1 year of volleyball and then play his last year of basketball. I don't know if that's even allowed under scholarship rules but would be interesting if possible.

I think as soon as Ferguson took a scholarship agreement over a signed NLI people started to wonder if something was up so not a huge surprise Miller may be working on a plan B in case Ferguson did that for a reason. As I said before his academics are very iffy in fact he's not enrolling in the summer as most incoming top recruits do now, because he's still finishing up all his extra online work trying to qualify. That time at Prime Prep . But then I always wonder why more kids don't refuse to sign a binding NLI and just do a scholarship agreement so maybe that's all it is with him.

Ferguson is not in summer school because he's playing for Team USA.

I remember saying a few years ago that going to Kentucky was a poor move for Lee. He's just a long athlete.

Miller was talking about all the recruits the other day and he talked about Ferguson. The only way he can publicly talked about a recruit is if he has committed, so there is no reason to believe he is not coming.

he signed a scholarship agreement so Miller is allowed to talk about him.

Miller said he gave permission to both Markkanen and Ferguson to skip summer school because of national team stuff. Markannen is already on two finnish age group teams with schedules that conflict with both summer sessions at Arizona.

Ferguson has to try out for the team, he was on it last year with Trier, but he's not guaranteed to make it.

One of the UA insiders who posts on BRO regularly detailed the whole thing. If he attended the first session he'd miss 4 days for tryouts. If he attended the 2nd session he'd miss 5 days for tryouts, the first 5 days. he said that he's not attending the first session because he's still finishing up his HS classwork doing approved online courses, exactly what his coach at API said a few weeks ago.

He can't attend the second session because assuming he makes the team he wouldn't be allowed to miss the first 5 days of summer school and the game schedule would likely cause him to miss classes at the end of the session too.

Trier did the pre session and the second session last year because the schedule was different for the national team so he had to skip first session.
Ferguson is skipping both. Everyone has said they fully expect him to qualify but he's not qualified yet he is still completing core classes. markannen is apparently an honors student so nobody at UA had any concerns with letting him skip summerschool, they wanted Ferguson to attend at least one session but Miller agreed to let him skip 2nd session because of Team USA.

Again I think more kids should refuse the NLI and just sign a scholarship agreement gives them a way out if something changes like the coach changes jobs.

Alkins, arguably the best New York City product since Lance Stephenson, will head to Arizona soon -- and he will do so having lost more than 20 pounds since his time at Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God Academy.

"I was a little heavy, I'm not going to lie," he said. "I had a lot of fat."

Alkins weighed as much as 237 pounds after leaving Christ the King for the South, but says he's now down to 215 thanks to a diet and workout regimen.

"I went on a 21-day water diet," he said. "No juice, no fried food, cut out the Wendy's and McDonald's. It was hard at first, but your body just gets used to it in a couple months. It's all muscle too because I've been lifting."

I think he's UA's best recruit. I hope water diet doesn't mean to him what it means to others though not exactly a safe way to lose weight. Hopefully he just meant like he said he cut out the junk food.

Great kid he's got an engaging personality and infectious smile.

He looks maybe 6'4" at best so he's possibly trying to show NBA scouts he's a SG even though he'll primarily be a 3 next year.

This has been a possibility for a while and it's been known by the coaches. Whether or not he follows through with it is a different story.

These stories come up all of the time that kids are going to go overseas, but it does not happen often. I think Emmanuel Mudiay, Brandon Jennings, and two others have done it in the past 6-7 years.

I've been hinting at it for awhile without outright saying it because as you said it gets rumored but rarely happens.

The issue with him is again like Mudiay he was at Prime Prep for 2 years and then Advanced Prep so it's entirely possible he wants to play in college but thinks he won't be allowed to.

I guess we'll see. Markkanen apparently strongly considered going to the NBA as I mentioned before it was believed if he'd had a strong showing at the Hoop Summit he might go Dirk Nowitzki and turn pro. But he pulled out of the event due to not being sharp having missed time with an illness and is now fully confirming he intends to play at Arizona. Ironically Ferguson blew up during that game and now is apparently turning pro and signing with Under Armour.

Ryan Noel who is apparently a Kansas reporter(?) says KU stopped recruiting Ferguson because of this. They were of the impression that at best he'd be a partial qualifier at KU and the same was true if he'd stayed with Bama because of Prime Prep. So Ferguson continued to list KU on his final list but per Noel KU had actually stopped recruiting him.

UA takes partial qualifiers but apparently Ferguson has been led to believe he's not going to be allowed to play at all this year and since he only plans on playing one year, he's going to play overseas instead.

Fraschilla says not confirmed yet but he hears Ferguson would play for Adelaide in Australia if he does go over there to play.

Seems pretty weird he just signed his scholarship agreement May 25th and less than 2 weeks later he's possibly going pro instead. Have to believe they got some news from the NCAA that makes it seem unlikely he qualified.

Wonder if he stays on the team USA roster.

Terrance Ferguson isn't Josh Jackson. He's not even Jennings or Mudiay who would've been lotto pick out of HS. He will probably regret this move.

It's only seems weird because this is not a new rumor, and that people are reporting it as if it just came out this morning. Brian Snow from Scout was the first to report, probably a month or two ago, that overseas was a possibility for Ferguson. I think it's funny that people are all of a sudden jumping on the bandwagon.

The coaches are proceeding as if Ferguson will be on the team this season, though the allure of getting a seven-figure contract might kick in.

It's definitely a wait-and-see situation at this point and nothing will be concrete until August.
