This team stinks. I doubt they hold on to the lead in the NL West. It doesn't look like they will ever get out of this batting slump.

Shaggy, I've really stopped using the word "slump". That sounds awfully passive. As though it were happening
to the D-backs.
Success, of course, is based on pro-active behavior. Making things happen. Choosing the roster. And the starting lineup, reserves and pitching staff.
Goldy's problems (not slump, but unresolved problems) have demoralized the team and fans. Outfielders who don't know how to draw the line in terms of risk in the field. Keeping weak hitters in the lineup, which tells the others that they don't have to hit above .230 to win their job. Ahmed being the worst example -- he cannot hit righty pitchers.
The only reason we are in 1st place (but not for long, as you say) is that we started with an exaggerated schedule with so many games vs. the Dodgers predominantly lefty starting pitchers, and we are better against lefty starters.
It is not a slump. It is a team that does not have the approach necessary to being a contender.
