That's the BEST word I can use to describe what I'm seeing. I'm "old"-school having been a Cardinals' fan since 67'. I was (10) back then, so you can do the "math". That's an awful lot of football-misery with just a few "good" moments mixed in. BUT NOW, I'm seeing "hopeful" signs everywhere! ...And , I KNOW there's still work to be done. BUT when players, coaches, fans, media, etc. around the league start saying "Keep an eye on the Cardinals?? Well, then you KNOW something "good" is in the works. ...And I look on all this with awe. It REALLY is "miraculous"!! GO CARDS!!

Same year I started following them and I was 9 in 67. Very few highlights in all these years and yes this is encouraging. I honestly believe Dennis Green will have this team in the playoffs this year and will improve from there. He did not take this job to collect some money and lose until canned. Will be more fun then you and I have seen in all these years as Card fans.

I am a Missouri Cards fan, too. Not as close to retirement as you guys though, and this is the most excited I've been in the last 20 years. If Green makes a mistake, he won't sit on it, he will get things done.

GO CARDS!!!

Old Timer's Thread...

I've been pulling for this team since '77 and, like all of you, temper my optimism every year due to all the previous years of misery. Still, this is the most "hopeful" I've allowed myself to feel towards the Cards in a very long time.

I'm actually looking forward to paying for my 2005 NFL Sunday Ticket subscription (well, sort of...)!

Here's hoping that we finally start seeing the kind of season we've all been waiting for these many years!

I must agree with everything you guys have said. I've been a fan since 1980, 10 years old, growing up just 2hrs east of St. Louis.

I hear the same thing from my dad and uncle that they put up w/the Cards their whole life and they will never change. I keep telling them that I will never jump ship and will continue to hate the new home team, the Rams.

Hopefully back to earlier triumphs

I was a Cardinal fan when they were in Chicago. I remember watching their dream backfield of Paul Christman, Elmer Angsman, Pat Harder and Charlie Trippi. They were an exciting team to watch in those days, particularly when they played the Chicago Bears in old Comiskey Park. And, of course, later there was Ollie Matson.

I agree that the moves the Cardinals are making are the best thing that has happened in years.

I became a Cards fan in '88 when they came to phoenix. I grew up in Tempe, but now I'm living in Kansas City. I've actually met alot of old Cards fans here, of course they don't have much to say about the franchise now. Except of course Bidwill suxs (LOL). But hopefully thats all gonna change. It's kinda funny because me and my wife have actually been talking about moving back to Tempe. I kinda have my fingers crossed. Season tickets for the new stadium would be sweet. Sorry I'm rambling. Go Cards!!! :D

Cards fan since 62. Hence the board name. Maybe I need to add + to the 40yearfan moniker.

I can remember rooting for both the baseball and football Cardinals since age 5. I can't honestly remember exactly why...My favorite color was red and I spent a few summers in Eastern Iowa...but grew up deep in the heart of Texas.

I wouldn't change a thing. 31 years as a Cardinal fan and you can say two things about me...I am not very smart but I am loyal.

Hey, "DOC"

I know the name BOBBY JO CONRAD. Flanker-St.Louis Cardinals. I have his 68' football card sitting right here in front of me. (LOL) ...And I recognize that small Jim Hart "pic" from an S.I. cover 11/27/67. I have that cover on my "Cardinal" wall. One thing about being "old" (relatively speaking) (LOL) is that you've "acquired" LOTS of neat-stuff over the years! :) GO CARDS!!! FINALLY!!

It's about time NSD.

The good thing is that my oldest son and daughter-in-law are considering moving themselves and the grandkids to Arizona....guess who will be right behind them?

I've been a Cardinal fan since 64, and yet I've got "Ouchie the Gonad" telling me what a moron I am because I stated that James would not & Should not be traded for. Us loyal old-timers deserve more respect!!!!!!

I like the funny looks that people give me when I say I'm a Cardinal football fan. In Missouri everyone assumes you are a baseball Cards fan (which I am). I have a 47 Cards World Championship T-shirt, and all of the kids around the area think it's a baseball T-Shirt.

I'm feeling like a youngster...
