And that is my concern watching him. He clearly wants to do well. His teammates support him and he supports them, but it's like the mental ability to focus is not consistent for no other reason than who Floyd is as a football player be it if he would care or not

As I said, he's just a dumb football player. There's no explaining stupid.

Joe Thomas is not better than Jared Veldheer.

Thomas isn't even that good. Totally over-rated. He gets a lot of pass-protection stats because his team sucks and he's always pass protecting. But he's never played in big games, and never been required to pass protect in important games. He never even takes on the best pass rushers the league has to offer. He's not tested. And that's sad, given his career, but he's totally over-rated and untested in big game situations.

Veldheer is a grizzled, battle tested vet who is consistent. He's fought the best pass rushers the NFL has to offer.[/QUOTE]

You're kidding right? Joe Thomas is better than Valdeer. Joe Thomas has been to the pro bowl all nine years he's been in the league. He was second in the voting for rookie of the year. ya he sucks.

I would not call it dumb, just his mental inability to pay attention, sort of like some sort of football ADD. For instance, Leonardo DaVinci was not dumb by any stretch of the imagination but he hardly ever finished a painting and was distracted easily. I know that is a unique analogy but it's true. It seems to me that Floyd is better making the difficult catch because it forces him to pay attention and the ones he drops seems to be the ones on target... with Floyd, it is best to throw it off target lol

Didn't say he sucks. I said he's over rated and he is. And Veldheer is absolutely better than Joe Thomas. As I stated earlier, Thomas' stats are inflated because he's always played for the crappiest team in the league who throw every down all game because they suck.

I'd take Veldheer over Thomas any freaking day. Veldheer has defended against the best rushers in the league, while Thomas has done nothing but rack up stats on a poopy team.

What????? I don't think you'll find many in the NFL that would say JV is better than JT. PROBABLY NONE. I would wager they wouldn't trade JT for JV straight up. How's that for perspective.

Is it just me or am I conversing with zombies devoid of human communication, who are only masquerading around as humans in a futile attempt to eat my nuts?

Trade Humphries meaning another 1st round failure of ours. I really believe that the Cards should trade their 1st round pick for an established player.

You just stated in another thread you don't watch much football, it is obvious. Way to resort to personal attacks very manly.

I deleted it because I thought it was mean, if you want to post it, go ahead.

Right, that's supposed to impress me. He doesn't have the pedigree of a Veldheer, and nothing you say or do can change it.

Of course not you made a silly stamen and now you're just going to dig your heels in. Don't let the professionals sway you. Nine straight probowls. His peers obviously don't think he's over rated.

Thomas plays for the Cleveland freaking Browns, one of the worst organizations in the last few decades. They're horrible and have been horrible. Thomas hasn't gotten the exposure against good teams in a playoff atmosphere. That's not his fault, but he's not in Veldheer's league.

If you replaced Thomas with Aeneas Williams, that would be the case to make. He's the most dominant lineman of his generation, toiling in obscurity.

Did Joe Thomas play for Wisconsin ?

I wont put too much emphasis in pro bowl selections
Doesnt give any sense sometimes, some players got selected even if they did play subpar but they got credit from what they did in the past

I am.agree with darkside, not easy to evaluate someone playing for a crappy team, cause if u lose 80% of the matches the level of competition in the 60 minuts is different, a lot of matches played by Browns were over in the 3rd quarter

Yes because the Pro bowl is filled with terrible players. The fact that he's the ONLY offensive linemen in NFL history to be named to the pro bowl each of his first 8 seasons should tell you what kind of player he is. Just for good measure, he made it 9 in a row last year.

I like Veldheer, he can't hold a candle to Joe Thomas.
