Duck, you do realize 2 of the things you wish to see from our team is something the've never really ever been good at, right? :bang:

I know all too well. But we keep hoping. We had a SB appearance so it can't be to much to ask that they have ONE season where they play defense and run over people can it?

Well since the Cards have been a passing team for 50 years maybe it is too much to ask.

How can one franchise be so good at picking WRs and so bad at RBs? I guess Chicago fans could sympathize since they've had the exact opposite problem for 50 years.

Sonny Randle
Bobby Joe Conrad
Ahmad Rashad (even though he didn't play much for us we still picked him)
Mel Gray
Roy Green
David Boston 1,598 yards in 2001
Rob Moore 1,584 yards in 1997
Anquan Boldin
Larry Fitzgerald
Ricky Proehl
Pat Tilley
Frank Sanders
Nate Poole

Meanwhile:

Ron Moore
Leland McElroy
Marcel Shipp
Michael Pittman
Anthony Thompson
Tony Jeffery
JJ Arrington
Chuck Levy
Ron Wolfley

Kolb!! Seriously Why is everyone thinking he is worth the 5th pick??? People thought the Eagles were nuts when they took him with their 2nd in 2007. What has he done to warrant such a pick....oh yeah NADA, more picks than TD's, 60% comp, 76 rating. Really wasn't that great last year in his starts. He is worth a 3rd at best more like a 4th. No QB on the trade right now is worth the 5th. If we trade it we are dumber than dirt and in panic mode. We have no reason to panic with our division.

That wasn't my quote:

I had responded, simply, that one could not trade picks for players until there is a new CBA. As for Kolb; the market will decide his value, and I'll venture it will higher than a third or fourth round pick when the time comes.

1. CAR: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
2. DEN: Marcell Dareus, DE, Alabama
3. BUF: Von Miller, OLB/DE, Texas A&M
4. CIN: A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
5. ARZ: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn

Whiz got the answers he wanted and shook hands afterward. He plans to never have to pick this high again, so he wants to take the best potential franchise QB propsect here. Whiz loves to be creative and he loves the thought of having a bona fide running option with a big, powerful and athletic QB.

While draftsite.com isn't always totally accurate about predicting the compensatory picks...they have allocated the #98 (3rd), #170 (5th) and the #248 (7th) picks to the Cardinals...so for this mock, I will take them up on it. I think the Cardinals will more likely receive a 3rd and a 7th. But, for now I will go with what draftsite.com has prognosticated:

38. Jabaal Sheard, OLB/DE, Pittsburgh. Strong side rusher.

69. D.J. Williams, TE, Arkansas. Finally a threat at TE.

98 (comp.). Bruce Carter, LB, North Carolina. Slips due to injury...but the Cardinals feel he can play inside and outside and is too good an athlete to pass up.

106. Kendrick Ellis, DT, Hampton. At 6-5, 340, the Cardinals believe they get a steal here.

141. Rob Housler, TE, Florida Atlantic. Fast, fast, fast. The Cardinals intend to reinvent the TE position this year.

170 (comp). Zach Hurd, G, Connecticut. Surprisingly athletic for a 6-7, 325 pounder.

179. Darvin Adams, WR, Auburn. Cam's go-to WR at Auburn who has been flying under the radar...has size (6-3), good hands and RAC ability.

192. Mark LeGree, FS, Appalachian St. Walter Camp All-American who picked off 22 balls in his career.

248. Karl Klug, DT/34DE, Iowa. High motor winner, a tad undersized...but tenacious.

I sure hope we get D.J. Williams. This guy is a winner in every aspect of the game. Great hands. Great blocker and as good a human being as you will find. I can go with your draft this time Mitch. You get better as you adjust your picks.

carson palmer seriously wants out of CIN so i wouldn't be surprised if they took newton.

The owner said in no uncertain terms that Palmer will not be traded. Sounds like he means what he says.

Who's gonna develope Newton? Miller, Miller, Grimm, Whiz? I honestly don't see any QB Whiz embraces? He would screw up Peyton Manning, Brees and Brady!

No QB could survive much less thrive in his system beyond, Kurt, Fouts or Marino maybe Elway? but He never got a ring until they ran the damned ball either!

That said Von Miller is too small and a pass rush specialist and not the BPA if you actually consider the other OLB skill sets in this 3-4 defense. Williams will send them outside and Dwash and Von Miller will hang on for the ride 50% of the time, then wear down late in the year.

There is no large well rounded OLB worth #5 so If not PP I take Prince A. at CB in this draft. He will leave us no regrets at #5. I'm tired of regrets with Whizzes magic.

The QB left in the 2nd round is not muvh more risky than the one available at #5 overall. Newton may well be there.

We were lucky to have blue chip no brainers at positions of need fall late in the draft since LEVI, DRC was the toughest decision.

Levi was the right pick in my book. He's protected the QB 600 times a year! And his top skill set is a mauler in the run game. But we haven't ran! and won't from what I see!

This is the first tough decision for Graves and Whiz. But they have made horrible choices past the first round every draft, not all but more than anybody except maybe the RAMS!
