Mitch, you are going to love this bit of news - Prospect Visits

Daryl Washington either already has or will shortly have a private workout with our very own Arizona Cardinals.

On to you regular scheduled programs.

Thanks, Joe. DW's athleticism seems made to order for the way the Cardinals play the WILB. Hey, if John Lott can get DRC to pack on 20 pounds in a couple of months, he surely can do the same with Washington. The thing is he can run and finish off plays with a flourish.

I would think that the Cardinals would be considering Washington for the #58 pick...or in a trade down from the #26 scenario. If he is taken prior to the #58 pick, the player I am starting to like more and more at WILB is Florida St.'s Dekoda Watson. He's got tremendous range and quickness, and relishes the physical aspects of the game and would have to switch inside from the edge the way Dansby did. And I would be happy with Penn St.'s Sean Lee, Mississippi St.'s Jamar Chaney, Washington's Donald Butler or Utah's Koa Misi....which is why picking a WILB at #58 makes a great deal of sense to me.

That's what I'm thinking, and to me , that's a good thing. Too many holes to consider. We don't just need the fatty.

You really should watch the Alabama games a bit more before labeling cody as a "fatty". I would defy anyone to watch those game tapes and qualify him as anything less then a game changer.

Mt Cody at #26 and Daryl Washington at #58 (irony?) would be the way I do it.

Will Washington actually make it to #58? I could easily see a Cover 2 team nabbing him up before that.

I'd take it if available.Seriously Doubt it will be. The fatty might not be a bad thing. Short term gratification. We'll see long term.

I could actually see him going as high as the Saints at #32.

He definitely is one chunky dude, but as long as he can make it to the 4th quarter w/o sucking wind, Im all for it. Besides, Lott will make sure he is in the best shape of his life (and by that I don't mean "round")

I am actually a little leery of Butler after reading thehuddlereports scouting report on him, in which he pretty much says he would not even draft him and comes close to calling him a pansy. Admittedly I was going a lot on his senior bowl practices and athletic ability, but watched some online video and I could see where the report came from. Not much of an attacking type LB at all. I think you called Dansby a tuxedo Linebacker, well Butler may just be even more so.

Nice catch Joe.

I guess it comes down to if the Linebacker is a finesse type linebacker or a aggressive type linebacker. Both types can and have worked in the NFL. Especially depending on the scheme. I would put Butler in that finesse grouping, and although I don't think Washington isn't a good wrap up tackler especially in the open field he is an aggressive type linebacker not afraid to put his nose in a hole and mix things up.

Butler would probability work best in the middle of a cover 2 where going into deep drops is more prevalent then plugging a gap in the middle.

If you put Washington's mind set into Butlers body you would have the perfect WILB.

I wonder if they're going to let Lott take a look @ Washington and see if he really can carry the extra weight...

Giving lot an extra look and in depth look at his frame is an interesting thought.

I like Dakota Watson too. He appears to have all of the necessary skills to play WILB. I would be all right with him if we miss out on Weatherspoon, Lee, and Chaney.

Mitch, I'm with you on pick #58 (ILB). Might change if Weatherspoon is available at #26, but I don't think he will be.

So far here is the list of players we have or will be bringing in for a visit.

QB - Forgot his name, but I want to say Pike, Canfield, one of those 4th,5th,6th round QB prospects. It is pissing me off I cant remember who.
LB - Ricky Sapp - Clemson
DE - Sean Lissemore - William & Mary
LB - Daryl Washington - TCU
LB - Eric Moncur - Maimi
CB - Kareem Jackson - Alabama

Note there may be and probably is more, I or we don't know about.

It is interesting that we are bringing in a bunch of players who seem to be a bit of a reach at 26, but will almost certainly be off the board by the time we pick in the 2nd. I do love Jackson, Sapp, and Washington (if he can add weight) though.

I was thinking the same thing. This is why I still wont be surprised if/when we reach in the first.

Eric Moncur has star ability, but injuries completely de-railed him his last two years. I hope he sticks somewhere.

My only issue with Daryl Washington is size. Other than that, I think he has all the other tools to be a very good linebacker, especially on 3rd downs. If the Cardinals think that he can put on the necessary weight, and hold up inside, then I am game. However, if he is available in the 2nd round, I am taking him.
