As of today, on NFL.COM, they have 4 mock drafts. Mitchell Trubisky, QB, is listed at 32, 25, 12, and 17. Only Charley Casserly has him lisred one pick before us at number 12. My question is, knowing Steve Keim is on record saying he is looking for our next QB, would Trubisky really get passed us at number 13?

I have only seen highlights and NFL analysts discuss Trubisky. I admit I do not watch college football. I am asking the people on this board who are much more knowledgable than me, if Trubisky is available at 13, would we take him?

He came from one of the few pro style offenses and he'd have a full year to learn. He was the consensus #1 QB after the season, but not a sure fire lock to be a franchise QB. But he has tools you can groom. Question will be for the FO to decide if he's worth the gamble locking him up for 5 yrs. Or if one of the 2nd tier QB' s would suffice for now.

Aaron Rogers lasted into the 20's and wound up sitting behind Farve for3-4 yrs. Look how that worked out. Ya gotta be ready to pounce on the right opportunities.

If he's there and we go CB or wide out.. then that tells you they're looking to win this year. We need the CB depth and the WR depth to have any shot at having a deep run this year. DL/OL too, quite possibly.

I want us to get a QBOF. I've yet to figure out which, if any, I want us to draft early. If the team goes after a QB early and it's not someone I wanted, I'm going to temper my disappointment because I will want to trust the experts. I usually stick to my guns, but I'll do my best to go with the flow :D

I would like to see them take a flyer on a guy in the mid rounds. If he shows significant growth or potential then he may be your guy. If not you can take a guy early in 2018 when there is supposed to be much better QB talent available. If you take a 1st round QB this year they almost have to give it a couple years whether or not he is the guy.

How and where we land the dude is less important than it be the "right" dude (& I don't have a clue as to how BA&SK rate these guys).

He was not the consensus #1... I have seen him, Kizer and Watson flip flop back and forth which is usually not a good sign for the position but so is the future of the QB postion in the draft lol

Word of caution:

It's not the 2 or 3 players who are flip flopping back and forth. It's the relatively small sample size of scouts, sportswriters and so-called draft experts who are doing the flip flopping. Sometimes minds are changing due to late-breaking info. Some of this info is more accurate, relevant or meaningful than others.

My point: Same dudes. (People seldom permanently alter their personalities, behavior or skill sets within a few week's period of time). Trust your eyeballs.

My eyeballs say that none of these QB's are worthy of a 1st round pick.

I will go on record with this one as I did with Russell Wilson when he was in the draft, DeShone Kizer is a franchise QB. He has all the physical traits you could want, played in a pro style system, changed plays even protections at the line, went through his progressions and unlike others he was thinking quick and not just using his eyes in my opinion. The play calling coming in for the Irish was funky in his last season and he had a lot of young WRs, the team was just out of wack around him. As far as his pro day and all that other stuff, I simply do not care unless he went ballistic in his interviews... and the majority it seems here who have a low opinion of him are lucky I am not the GM because he would be my pick when the Cards are on the clock in round one lol

He's not really great at anything just kinda good at a lot of things. He def doesn't have that wow factor he might be a solid pro but he's not a star

I wouldn't be mad or surprised if we take Kizer with the 13th pick. As others have stated, this draft is deep with S and CBs that could be picked up in later rounds. I believe the rebuild starts next year, it would be nice to have our QBOTF sit for a year.

Trubisky simply doesn't have a big enough body of work to be certain he will be more than ordinary. He could develop to be someone like Flynn, but it's a major gamble.

I seen a pic of Tribisky today and his face looks like a carved pumpkin in week two of November on a front porch. I'm thinking ''he just doesn't look the part"

To be fair, Andrew Luck was the goofiest looking guy when he came out of college.

Ok I've watched all 4 top QBs and Trubisky is the one for me. He has the magic you want in your QB. He isn't a runner like some of the others but he makes every throw look easy. He just gets it.

This gets said every year on this board, "wait until next year."

Then the crop of QBs is bad and nitpicked, with the exception of a couple of guys who go #1 and #2 overall. Eventually you need to pull the trigger. Dak Prescotts and Russell Wilsons are extraordinarily rare.

And he has just as great a chance to flop as Trubisky, Watson and Mahomes . Watson and Mahomes have elevated up draft consensuses the most that I could see. And with good reason, imo.

I wish we would adopt the policy of always using our #1 pick each year on the player who is most likely to succeed in any position of need. Use your other picks on the more questionable stars to be. If you took as much gamble as possible out of your top pick each year, you would most always come away with a great player playing for you for years to come. There are a couple ILBs, WRs, and CBs in this draft that fall into that policy perimeters and who will be available through the mid rounds of this draft.

This policy would generally rule out taking a QB or offensive lineman most years. They seem to me to be the highest hit/miss positions most years.
