Someone please either confirm or denounce this, preferably the latter of the two.

Did anyone hear about this?

I read this today over at nfldraftblitz but I'm disregarding it. OTA's were over too long ago for this to surface now and furthermore they wouldn't penalize a team with a full week

We lose one week of practice due to our earlier practices being too strenuous.

No one is allowed at the facility this week, unless it's for treatment.

The practice ban ends friday.

No big deal IMO.

What made them "too strenuous"? This is weird.

Yeah I heard this on 1060 this morning. Kinda got under my skin. They said that some of the Vets on the team made issue with the player rep and then the players rep went to the union and the union went to the NFL. The NFL launched an investigation awhile ago requesting videos of practices etc. The ruling came down over the weekend.

I bet Green lays into the players at the next meeting! He should anyway. Maybe they need to remember they played on a 4-12 team last year.

MJ was on FoxSportsAZ this morning with that story.

Jurecki's take was that Denny "tested the outer extremities of the envelope and got caught by the League." He added that Coughlin (Giants) got gigged too.

The bigger part of the story (as pointed out by Jurecki) that will remain to play out is that, apparently, a bunch of Cardinal players didn't like the hardship of practice, felt it was out of line and complained to their player rep, Scott Player.

Player - like every other player rep in the League - was caught between a rock and a hard place. He didn't want to annoy the Cardinal staff (Player reps are reputed to have shorter "shelf lives" than 2nd Looeys), but apparently too many players complained to him for him to ignore. (The presumption being that "complaining = requesting a grievance to be filed.")

What remains to be seen will be the relationship between certain Cardinal players and Coach Green. Where is the dividing line between "legitimate gripe" and whining? (The League evidently has made that pretty clear, but Denny's new team culture may continue to vary with the League's position).

Personally, I'm not happy with this situation. The last thing this team - in the early throes of a turnaround - needs is a distraction. And one, at that, which involves how hard each player works.

We told you about the physical practices while they going on. ASFN told you there might be retribution and I am a little pissed that some of you are surprised.

Furthermore, all they got gigged was a week of weight training at the complex, if I read this correctly. My guess is Denny Green is still glad he did it his way.

Not surprised about the hard work. Not happy that Denny went outside the League parameters and committed the Great American Sin (He got caught).

I dont think anyone is suprised, just a little bothered that these players would complain.

They should have complained. What Denny had them doing without pads was risking their careers for no good reason. My OPINION is that Dexter Jackson and several other vets did the wise thing and exaggerated their injuries. They will be fine in Flagstaff.

And if that did occur, it was smart.

Right, we should have been checking the site everyday for it, Skkorp. Didn't mean to make you angry; I'll be sure to be combing the site for some other vague predictions that might come to pass from now on.

Come on, Skkorp. You're "pissed" that we're surpised? Whatever.

skkorp is right on this.........and I believe that Shelton and Jackson were not announced to the strating lineup as a way of slapping their wrists. All will be fine.

They better enjoy a week away from the weight room.........it starts for real pretty darn soon.

We really don't know and probably will never know who, why, and what for? I have no problem with Denny pushing hard to get this team mentaly ready to compete. IMO the players or player that went to Scott Player are guys who did not help us to our 4-12 season last year. If I'm the new coach of a team that has a great history in LOSING, I would want to change many ways of doing business. The four days of no weight training no big deal. On the other hand if this becomes a persistant problem then Green has to reevaluate himself and his players.

Fine. Sarcasm is ok. What I meant to say was that everybody was reporting what went on and apparently a bunch of fans decided this was media invention and the players were wimps.

The players are not wimps, Denny did violate the CBA and you, with your over 4,000 posts should know our reporting wasn't "vague predictions".

So I'll drop this but I made a great effort at the time to report that this was a big deal. I'm done.

We actually got off easy.

Sounds like Scott Player was probably smart and didn't say anything until the practices were over. You all did get off easy, but IMO the players shouldn't be complaining at this point.

This could also be pay back for Denny's little Cardinal Combine that was canceled once, and then held in secrecy from the media. It happened, and this may be the penalty they pay.

What could be interesting is if turns out that some of the guys DG benched were the primary complainers. Then you get an instance where the CBA allows the players to report violations without fear of reprisal, if they complained once don't be so sure they won't complain again if they're convinced they lost a starting job over the first complaint.

My primary concern when Skorp first reported it was twofold, we could ultimately lose a draft pick, and didn't DG learn anything from what happened to him in Minnesota? Jim O made it clear the Cards were VERY aware of the heat and importance of hydrating players so I dropped that one, but we
are lucky we didn't get a bigger penalty, like losing a pick next year.
