I truly believe they could have gotten something. No biggie if you disagree.

I didn't think it could even be rescinded. I thought that was b.s. but I was wrong.

No biggie.

No one is ever gonna bend on that issue and me and AZCB34 are right so let's drop it.:D

So let me get this right: You know no effort was made because you don't know...

They chose not to. Do I want DB here...nope. But you don't let guys like that walk without really trying to get something.

I was wrong.

Yes because had the Cards been shopping him, someone somewhere would have leaked to the press.

Cheesebbef is right. We should drop the Boston stuff. I was simply replying in an ongoing discussion with cardiac where he mentioned Boston. I never meant to turn this into a Boston thing.

Lot's of things get leaked to the press I'm sure but I'm also sure not everything that is leaked is printed.

This is not just a Cardinals deal, it's about potential lawsuits for divulgiing privilrdged info (re: Most comapnies will only give minimal references now, they will only oncfirm salary, and empployment dates, not give them).

Second, depending on the team, situation, type of info and the particular media, it may not get printed to maintain the relationship.

I think Maddog is right on. Teams that have success in this league roll the dice and try and they don't let silly things like guaranteeing a contract get in the way of bettering their team. Watch the transactions log for the NFL and teams are always stirring the pot, trying anything to get better.

All I can say is I hope Graves has learned his lessons and won't make the same mistakes again.

I agree. Graves made a mistake and admitted it. I don't like the fact that he misjudged the market, but I like the fact that he's man enough to go out and admit it.

About 25 teams had cap problems this year and basicly every team just managed to handle it this year, but they'll get bigger problems next year. IMO Graves misjudged the other teams ability to get under the cap, but Graves wasn't the only one to misjudge the market. Five teams have lots of money available under the cap. I think all these teams misjudged the the situation. It's no excuse, but it shows that Graves is only human.

The value of a season's worth of tickets (or - as an out-of-towner approaching 65 - one of your life's remaining seasons) is a pretty costly price to pay for a VP Player Personnel's "learning curve."

This just in.....no sh*t, Rod.

Well, I did the marathon and read this 10 page thread. I have only one thing to say.

This was never hindsight. It was FOREsight. I and others were screaming on this board that Graves was an idiot, yes, an idiot, for relying on June 1st cuts. They are NEVER very good and this year was supposed to be thin as well. Lo and behold, I and others were right, the stupid GM was wrong. I mean, the entire NFL knew this. It's not like it was rocket science. Methinks Graves just didn't WANT to be more proactive before June 1st, and pushing it off gave him an 'out'.
