I forgot to add one of the Barcelona coaches expressed dismay at the systematic way U.S. Soccer is going about youth training. I didn't understand his Spanish well, but I think he was saying soccer is about freedom and expression and it's not just this technique or that technique. I got the impression he thinks U.S. Soccer should back off and let styles evolve in various regions, that the U.S. was too big to have such a strong-arm national program.

Dunno. It was fun to hear their perspective though. The idea that sport is anything more than a series of techniques is definitely a foreign one to American athletes.
