Think with Warner coming here, we might get a Monday Night Game. The up and coming new jersey wearing Cards versus the Rams. It would have a good storyline to it. It would be cool if we did, I am sure it will be an awaygame though. They don't like showing empty stadium's on national broadcasts. Just a thought. I think its definetly possible.

I think it is more likely that we get a Sunday night game on ESPN against either the Rams or Giants.

We'll get a Monday nighter when the new stadium opens.

I could be mistaken but I think a team has to finish at least 7-9 the previous season or be the Cowboys to get a MNF game.

or the Redskins.

Nope its based purely on ratings. If they feel that the Warner Vs. The Rams was a good enough storyline to get ratings ... believe me they would do it

Ah... didn't know that. Didn't it used to be based on a previous season record of at least 7-9 or 8-8 or something like that?

No, its always been based on whether the games will get ratings or not. Otherwise how would the Cowboys keep going on there?

Yeah makes sense. It seems though the Cards earned a MNF game in the 1999 season (Steve Young's last game too btw) because we had a winning record the previous year. I had the impression it was for that reason alone.

I thought the league and network were trying to work out a system to allow more competitive matchups. I hope we dont get a MNF game but I am selfish....with the 4 hour drive from the river I'd have to take 1 or 2 days vacation to see it...aw wth, i'm down for it.

No chance of a MNF game this year unless they are changing around the system, to have those backup games and the Cards are playing great at the end of the year. Possibly a SNF game, but they seem to be going by wins on those anymore also. We haven't had one since 02.

The Bills where 6-10 last year and they got a Sunday Night game. The Browns where something like 5-11 and they also got a Sunday Night game.

It's all about ratings and the 'story lines'. Warner returning to St Louis as a Card may be the ticket to get us a Sunday night game. I hope!

Is it just me that could care less about being on national tv? All I want is the play-offs for now. The other things will fall in place later.

WIN!

As I recall, we didn't get a Monday nighter when Emmitt came, so I doubt seriously we'll get one with Warner.

Yea Jersey

but we didn't play the cowchips, we play the Rams, and for a MNF game SDS would be pretty full I'd venture to guess.

Come on. The Cards are considered the worst NFL franchise by the fans. MNF is about ratings. In the old 3 network days MNF was guaranteed ratings no matter who played. It is not that way anymore. Ratings means good teams. Nobody watches the commercials if its 38-0 at halftime. Other teams fans dont care that the Cards wil have new unis or that Warner will be here or a new stadium next year. Cincy made it this year because they showed results on the field in 03. The Cards have to show they can win. I believe that the MNF teams last year made the playoffs the previous year or finished strong like Cincy.

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
They will get a MNF game cause of last years improvement. Cards games were exciting to watch last year and with the new look D and new Uni's and logo we will get at least a Sunday night game, hopefully vs the Rams.

MNF in Sun Devil Stadium is a pipe dream. They may be a Sunday game, but certainly no Monday game.

They'll get a Monday game when the new stadium opens as long as they have a decent performance this season.

Umm... Yes, we did play the Cowboys in Emmitt's first season here. Remember the game where Roy Williams shattered Emmitt's collarbone and he cried during the post-game press conference? That's some memory you have there.

Anyway, I love these threads. They're coming early this year. There's zero chance that the Cards get a MNF game this season. They MIGHT get a Sunday Night game, but no chance for a Monday night game.

Arizona fan couldn't fill up SDS when the tickets were free. They couldn't legitimately sell out SDS for Monday Night Football when the Cards were coming off a playoff season (some company had to buy 700 seats in the upper level north endzone). No one in the national market cares about the Cards. The Warner signing got 15 seconds on SportsCenter 35 minutes into the show. NO ONE CARES BUT US.

Getting into the playoffs guarantees you a home game on MNF. Everything else just depends on you having a big national following. The Cards didn't even have a big LOCAL following last season. Get off the pipe, guys.

Excellent post. To those who think the Cards will get a MNF game this year you should trying looking at the possibility with more objectivity and less as a fan. Those decisions are made based on money and who can create the ratings to get advertisers to ante up. If you cant even sell out your own stadium that would probably mean the viewership in AZ would not even be that good. How do you think they would do in NY, LA or Chicago? Not very well.

If you dont believe the preceeding points then look at historical precedent regarding the Cardinals and MNF. Last time they were on MNF was 1999. In 1998 they finished 9-7, made the playoffs and beat Dallas in the playoffs. That performance earned the confidence of ABC that they would put a good product on the field that would interest a national audience.

I don't ever want a home MNF game. Day games in AZ are great. No way I want to fight rush hour traffic.

No Monday Night games unless your team was over .500 last year.

Always been that way.

WRONG - The Cowboys - even in heir 5-11 days were getting on Monday night and the Skins were on last year as well(after going below .500 the previous year). That's just a couple to name off the top of my head.

That being said - there is no way in hell we get a MNF game, nor do we deserve it this year. Let us get in the playoffs and then talk about MNF.

are you back handedly insulting my memory? Cheap shot. Lame and pure bitch if you ask me. All you needed do was remind me. I seemed to have forgotten your M.O.
There now that was'nt backhanded at all was it?
However, I do thank you for reminding me. Yes the game was played in Dallas wasn't it?
No need to respond. Just carry on as usual.
