All this was, was a meet and greet? This isnt a rookie coming in for a workout its a free agent. Thats is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Either the FO is clueless to market values, brought him in only for PR as in "See we tried", or Somers is guestimating.

What market value is their to figure out. Its already been set with Bartell and Foxworth. Even just above average CB's are going to cost you 7 mill.

I shouldnt be but I am actually astonished.:bang:

I think we need to come up with a "Guide to the Cardinals Offseason: Year after Year" because this crap gets pulled every year, and some how like you Joe, every year I am shocked.

Even after the good will of a improbable Super Bowl run the Cardinal **** it all up.

Fool me once shame on you Cardinals, Fool me twice....

I get a feeling that the Cards are just keeping all information "very close to their vest". The strict confidentiality of the Card organization surprises me as they had been more open in the past. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I'm sure that they are. Part of the problem is that we (fans) have no patience especially when you see some other teams move very fast. Free agency is a crap shoot. It dosen't pay to get upset. Bottom line is that we all said and know that this is a poor year for free agents as the best have been franchised. However we still want the Cards to go out and sign some. Go figure!

Are you implying there aren't people out there in FA that could help this team - even depth wise?

Do we not have any cap room? Surely you jest.

I have been one of the few to say "with the stadium the Bidwill's are different" and give them the benefit of the doubt.

I was wrong.

If we continue to win it will all be at the feet of Wisenhunt and it will be IN SPITE of BILLY BOY AND ROD GRAVES.

And if you doubt that then you aren't paying attention to the one difference in the team and our relative success over the past two years.

Of course there are people who are out there that can help this team depth wise. I'm just saying that there is no reason to be upset with free agency only 4 days old. Some teams just sit back and wait for the price to drop while some teams rush out and sign free agents quickly. Both approaches can and do work. I have no problem waiting and seeing what the team looks like by the time training camp opens in late July.

The team will make him commit right then if he finds the offer acceptable.

If he says he'll get back...they'll remove the offer. That's how it works now.

I hope not, that would be hypitcitical of them concidering they asked Antonio Smith to do that very thing. Whiz asked him to come back and give us a chance to match any offers he got.

How dare you guys insinuate that Rod Graves and Co. is doing anything but a stellar job? We went to the Super Bowl this year and Graves is the reason why. Those 4-12 seasons were someone elses fault. He is a hero and you guys suck. :sarcasm:
And could we please stop acting like Steve Kiem is the next coming? Since he has been here we have whiffed on 8/10 first round picks and have drafted about 40-50 guys who aren't even in the league anymore. His resume is far from great.

That is just not reality in todays NFL. The team had all last year and the year before to make Smith a reasonable offer. They chose not to, or Smith and his agent chose not to listen to offers until he became a free agent.

At that point, it's time for the Cardinals(or any other NFL team) REALLY interested, in retaining their FA eligable player to make their best offer for that player to sign before they hit the open market.

Obviously the Cardinals felt they were'nt in the position do that, so they did the only thing that they could and make the request for him to bring them his best offer back to them. Whether Smith did is highly questionable.

The way most teams do buisness with the free agent now with an offer if they're serious about signing that player is with a stipulation that it's a one time take it now or leave it now offer. That's how they guarantee that the player is not using their offer to approach again his old team and just using the other organization to set his market value. That's just good business practice.

I think you missed my point. My point was you said that the Cards would say to player X take it or leave it today the offer is no good tomorrow. So they can't shop the offer. I said that would be hypicritical of them as they asked A. Smith do do that very thing. You can't tell players not to shop an offer but ask your own players to do so.

Agreed. I really don't think they were anywhere near serious in trying to keep Smith though. Kind of unfortunate.

Then the real debate could have been Smith or Boldin, or, Smith or the possibility of McFadden. Along with retaining our other key players.

Great great post. Theres an old adage in the NFL " Championships aren't won in March".

And move Dansby to the edge...now you're talking!

He's an older, smallish LB, who can no longer play three downs. And with his reputation he's not going anywhere for minimum wage.

Can't see how he fits...

Had the Cards, in FA, targeted an elite inside linebacker to pair with Hayes, then the Dansby to the outside could have happened...

They didn't... so moving Dansby outside seems highly unlikely.

Apparently Jordan signs with the Broncos to reunited with his Pats OC.

I already know that the JJ deal fell through but does anyone know why it feel through or what his plans are now?

Well, they also signed Buckhalter. I guess they will be going to camp with about 28 RB's.
