I think the jersey of every Suns player should say "Project" on the back. Tell it like it is.
so true.

agreed. I like the old English not really a big fan of the 92-93 jersey change.
Joe
Its Western font silly, not Old English. Thats why it works for Phoenix/Arizona.

Yes, the "hint" of new promotional uniform is the black one from the Barkley era during THIS season Only. As far as a brand new uniform for the Suns, it's been reported that the Suns will have a complete NEW look in the '13-'14 season. I'm hoping it will be next season rather than having to wait another 2 years though. Another hope is them resembling these rather than anything else (Especially the black ones....HOT!!!)

This was just posted on the Suns site
Suns going retro with black uniforms

After hearing that a lot of ASU students were excited about the new uniforms, I worry about poll results...
But the Marion pic is the one I'd vote for. They are so good: unique and classic. Regional but without all the crap the Diamondbacks and Coyotes have done to be "southwestern" over the years.
I'd love to see the Suns go on a good playoff run in those and decide that they are good luck. Kind of like when the Maple Leafs kept wearing their heritage third jerseys in the playoffs because they were "lucky" (probably a random reference for this board, but still, a great sweater).
I beg your pardon. What's "crap" about southwestern? I became a Suns fan upon my first visit to the Valley of the Sun in 1970 and relocated permanently 34 years ago, when I'd call out from my 40-foot pool, "I love you Arizona!"... but without all the crap the Diamondbacks and Coyotes have done to be "southwestern" over the years.

What location should our teams identify with? LaLa Land? New Yawk? Miami? Chicago?
You may not identify with it, but the southwestern logo for our sports teams is fine with me. Just glance to the left and you'll see the beauty of it.
Whoa, you're completely misunderstanding me. I grew up in Phoenix and I totally identify with it. That's my point: I think that some of the things the teams have done to appear southwestern have been overdone and garish. Like the Coyotes' original logo, for example. I am in fact all for representing the region, but with something that looks a little more authentic and a little less like it came from an airport gift shop.
Things I've preferred have been the Suns western font, U of A's logo with the cactus, and the Wranglers logo and color scheme. Sorry if I explained badly.
Thanks for the clarification. "Regional but without all the crap the Diamondbacks and Coyotes have done to be "southwestern" over the years." Now I get it. 'Sorry for jumping to the wrong conclusion. 'Glad to hear it's not a case of the bumper stickers we used to see, "Welcome to Arizona, now go home."Whoa, you're completely misunderstanding me. Im probably in the minority here but I'd take the Coyotes old logo over their new one in a heartbeat. Those uniforms were totally absurd but at least they were unique, their current look is so bland you'd think it was designed in 10 minutes with the major idea being "make something forgettable".
As for the Suns, hearing they are phasing out the purple is a real disappointment. Not just for the "southwest" feel but purple and orange is a way better color combo than orange and black... which is hideous and only makes me think of Halloween and home depot.
In the last few years in the NBA we've seen a real trend back towards old school looks. Philly, New York, Golden State, Milwaukee, Utah, Houston, Cleveland... they've all taken aspects of 70s and 80s jerseys and colors and make updated uniforms out of them and I think the all look immeasurably better... except maybe Cleveland. Hopefully we decide to be slaves to a very good trend and come out with an update of our western uniforms.
Yes. I think it would a smart move for a regime that fas been squandering the legacy of the franchise.
