Mendy is stable and all, work horse that can do the blocking assignments well and all but this kid is fun to watch. Comes out of the back field really well too, has more burst speed than Mendy and can make folks miss more as well IMO. Mendy was also pretty sloppy with the pigskin today to go with his unimpressive carries. I like Mendy up the middle more than Ellington but that's just a size and wear and tear thing for me, but the kid has vision to go any direction when he has space. He aint no AP or anything but we should start our best.

I loved him as a college player and couldn't believe that he fell to where he did. Heck, he was drafted after Stepfan Taylor. But I never expected him to contribute like he has. Most importantly, he doesn't carry the ball like a loaf of bread like Mendenhall, Ryan Williams, Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower. Agreed DDawg. He is our back of the future

Agreed. I have been very impressed w/ the production we have gotten out of Ellington and would like to see more of his speed in the game. He gives our offense a different dynamic which it needs.

Did you hear the crowd reaction when he juked Reavis out of his shoes? That move was Barry Sanders-esque

Was NOT happy Mendenhall put the ball on the ground 3 times, including the one on our last series before the winning FG.

Ellington brings a new dimension we need to see much more of. Kid can play.

I agree. Mendy has lost a little pep in his step with the toe injury.

I also like how Ellington can line up with the receivers and run routes. Arians can have him go in motion and line up leaving the back field empty because we don't have to start out with the back field empty. ;) Kind of invites the blitzes we can't handle. That type of "line him up where ever" flexibility can help when we are trying to confuse defenses, especially on designer plays like when PP comes in on offense. Ellington can be that type of back in Arians no huddle, I don't know if Mendy really runs receiver routes.

I agree with all of this. He is looking like the best back on the team right now.

I would start Ellington. He brings so much more to the table with both his running and receiving skills.

I like him but disagree. Mendenhall really does get some tough yards. He is the best we have seen in years here in terms of vision and fighting for yards. He makes something out of nothing. Ellington is doing exactly what he should be, catching balls, and an occasional change of pace.

Andre Ellington was a sixth round steal. Hopefully he only gets better.

Heath Evans said during the game, that the coaches are monitoring how much Andre can handle.

You tell by the playing time he's getting that BA loves what he brings to the table. If Rashard has another error-filled game like he had on Sunday, he'll be the #2 running back behind Ellington. Right now it looks like Andre is getting reps at the expense of Alfonso Smith.

So is the nickname Duke or Elli or has anyone done any research to see if he already has a handle like how WiPo did or something?

I agree. They are a perfect compliment to each other. Something we haven't had in the backfield in a long time.

Is it my imagination or does it seem like we make more yards running to the left than we do running up the middle or to the right? Especially Ellington.

Ellington is why you pick a runningback in the sixth round even though you already picked on in the fifth. :)
