He just tweeted that it doesn't look like he will be working in the Phoenix Market anytime soon lol.

Doesn't look like I'll be working in the Phoenix market anytime soon. Nothing but great memories there.

the best was Gary Miller trying to say the Donks don't want to appear cocky... Elway has been a cocky asshat his entire career. this kind of arrogance is not surprising in the least.

If we get Manning then he made himself look like an ass as well as the entire Broncos organization. If they do land him then he says you told you so. Send all the comments you want, but at this point were in the same boat as the Broncos...sitting on our thumbs hoping we did enough to woo the former NFL MVP.

My brother went to school in Colorado and loved the state, but couldn't stand the Broncos because of their fans. Now I understand his line of thinking.

I concur.

I love Colorado, and might end up living there again someday, but the Broncos fans were obnoxious. However, they weren't all that much more annoying than fans in other cities where I've lived (Cowboys, Bears)...

I lived in Denver for 5 years. Its a nice city. However, its snow country with snowstorms starting at the end of October and continuing into April.

Gaming the Gaming of the Manning Process....

Before I begin - No disrespect to Vic Lombardi but I have no respect for Vic Lombardi.

Regarding this thread - So many pages/so little hard info.

I can't help but wonder why there hasn't been more transparency about the entire process - by Manning, the Broncs or the Cardinals. I mean what would it cost Peyton or any of the teams to hold a presser or issue a release letting the fans know what went on in each city and what to expect in the near future (i.e. "they had dinner at Wiz's house." "No decision will be made until all teams have been interviewed." or conversely, "We could do a deal on the spot if it's the right deal." Or whatever).

Leaving it up to the media to dig away like rodents to pick up nuggets of info paves the way for all kinds of mischief in the form of rumor and misinformation. So who's it going to hurt to tell the fans what's going on or what to expect? (That's what I've been wondering).

Well, it could hurt one team's bargaining leverage vs. another. (i.e. "Team A had a BBQ. We're bringing in Emiril to cater our dinner"). Or it could reduce Peyton's leverage (because this way he can use fan-suspense to add teams to the mix and ratchet up the terms of any deal). Or a bundle of other reasons.

Which brings me to the only logical reason for "why all the mystery?" -

Peyton and his family is in "bargaining mode." He probably plans to meet with other teams, and hopes to get Denver or Arizona or Miami or Houston or Seattle or whatever to increase their offer.

Can't blame him, but as one rabid fan (with high bp and cholesterol), I plan to ratchet down the heat-index, take a deep breath, not get my hopes up and refrain from watching the bleeping NFL Network crawl more than 20 times a day.

It just doesn't look like anything's going to get done all that soon.

(Having said that - now watch the announcement come down 10 minutes from now).

Technically true, but you forgot to mention that there are sometimes 5 weeks between significant storms.

Denver gets more days of sun than San Diego. Colorado is an awesome place to live. The Broncos are a hard team to root for because of the fans.

Denver gets 367 days of sun a year?

I dunno

I think this is just Manning's style: he is doing the equivalent of film study on organizations.

Interesting that his agent -- Tom Condon -- didnt go along. This says to me that the broad outlines of a contract has been agreed to. Condon would have had a conversation with both teams and would have felt satisfied that they understood the price. Otherwise -- no way Manning spends three or four days meeting with the Denver and AZ if either are thinking "incentive laden deal" and he isn't.

Also: its interesting that teams: Wash, Seattle, etc have publicly said they want a meeting, but have gotten the cold shoulder. If this were a bargaining thing -- you want other players in the mix, even if they are simply stalking horses.

Contacted about what? Follow up questions? Clarification? Left something at the facility? Declining offer? This report is too nebulous.

I don't think Peyton can go to the bathroom or get a drink of water without a reporter tweeting or writing about it.

Line in old country song "You only build me up to let me down". I shall be glad when this Manning mania goes away one way or the other. Wonder what Kolb and Skelton are saying or thinking about all this?

It's not going away. If he signs - the entire valley is going to blow up and become Cardinals fans and the message boards won't stop.

if he doesn't - the message boards will be filled with hate and anger having to go back to Kolb.

it's not going away any time soon

PEYTON come play for the Cardinals...it will cure world hunger

Well it was fun while it lasted. Personally think Denver is not a great fit but I'm not the signal caller.

I lived in Denver and Cheyenne for several years. Both are nice places. In Denver my apartment had a view looking straight into the Rockies from the Cherry Creek area. At that time the air quality really sucked. You could see Denver from about 500' above the city bathed in a big pocked of pollution. I think it may have been corrected somewhat now. About 50 or so miles north was Cheyenne which was higher than Denver but very clear. I liked living there much better than Denver. If you are into winter sports then Denver sure beats the desert. If you like it warm year around then the desert is an obvious choice. Both have natural grass. Both could be contenders if he signs with him if he remains healthy.

My guess is Denver which has seasons and John Elway as your boss. This was a good time of year for him to visit Denver. Hope it was nice the day he visited AZ.

Why not start my own rumor.

I received information last night that said Manning will not go to Denver. The source was 95% sure that Manning had suddenly developed the rare blood disorder that prevents Ryan Clark from playing in altitude.

I think that's as credible as Lombardis' source.
