Crawled Through 5 FB Fields
I've been sorting through the free agents looking for players who could be nice, reasonably priced fits for the Cardinals. Here are some of the players I am particularly intrigued with:
CB Walter Thurmond (SEA)---has the length and cover ability---strong worker.
WR Jacoby Ford (OAK)---rare speed and untapped potential, slowed by injury, but now healthy and shouldn't command much more than the minimum veteran salary.
LB Dane Fletcher (NE)---would be such a good fit as a nickel LB (sub in for Minter)---has good speed and cover ability---good blitzer---very good STs player.
SS Major Wright (CHI)---box safety who can cover.
SS Mike Adams (DEN)---box safety who can cover.
RB Ronnie Brown (SD)---was so impressed with him in SD last year---still has the quick feet and bounce---would be a nice complimentary veteran addition to a young RB unit.
OLB Shaun Phillips (DEN)---wanted him last year---had 10 sacks for the Broncos---you can never have enough pass rushers and at his price he's a bargain.
T Marshall Newhouse (GB)---still young and has many starts under his belt---played LT in GB when Brian Baluga was injured, but is better at RT and could emerge as one of the better RTs in the NFL.
34DE Alex Carrington (BUF)---just the kind of athlete who could find a strong niche in Todd Bowles' front 3 rotation.
DE Corey Wooten (CHI)---he's been a 43 DE in Chicago, but could thrive as a 34DE and nickel pass rusher.
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (TEN)---played well versus us last year and has valuable experience---seems like an ideal #2---and seeing as Drew Stanton has such little playing experience, maybe it would be good to have a proven #2 in the mix.
