Do you think they sign their contracts simultaneously?

Marc Gasol might not be a 'superstar' but he would be a HUGE addition to the Suns, and he is a UFA at the end of this coming season as well.

Horford is another guy that I would love to get on the Suns but probably is a pipe dream at best.

Demarcus Cousins would be interesting, if Sacramento decides they've had enough of the Boogie experiment. I'm not sure the Suns could tolerate his antics but you can't deny his talent.

If you'd asked me two years ago I would have been adamant against acquiring Cousins. But emotionally the guy has clearly improved, in fact, he's almost stable. Okay, that might be a slight overstatement but he's no longer a crazed lunatic. I'd ask Isaiah Thomas and Eric Bledsoe about it first but if they said yes, I'd go after him enthusiastically. I'd offer them Ennis, Goodwin, Plumlee, the Lakers pick, the Minnesota pick and three more 1st rounders of our own.

The Kings aren't letting Cousins go. They stuck with him through the worst of it; now they get to reap the rewards.

I don't think the guy we are looking for is in the NBA yet.

Continue to develop players. I think we have probably 2 more seasons of "treading water" before they have a chance to be a legit contender.

The only guy I have heard mentioned that I would be interested in the Suns acquiring is Horford.

I am sort of intrigued with the idea of Nerlens Noel at some point. Not sure what it would take to get him, but if we think he might be good, making a good offer sometime this year might be good.

Not sure about his health. Just an idea I am considering.

I thought we were scared away by degenerative knees? I don't know what could change that would make him a target for us if that's the case.

I thought we were scared away because of his injury history and his unwillingness to communicate with the Suns on his injury issues (no physical etc). That would be good enough for me to pass in the draft.

In a trade, he would have to pass a physical for the trade to go through. So we could get a look. Anyway. Its intriguing.

No, there were reports/rumors at the time that there was degenerative disease in his knees and that a lot of teams would be passing on him because of it. I don't remember hearing anything about him being unwilling to communicate with us but you could be right on that.

For some reason Suns fans seem to undervalue the Morii compared to outsiders around the league which is strange because usually it's the other way around.

I agree

I think we made a great deal in getting both of them under contract for the next five years.

1. They are assets on the court
2. They are assets off the court
3. They Keep their bodies in tip top shape
4. They Love Phoenix
5. They usually were always Johnny on the spot when any altercation took place on the court to protect their teammates.
6. They are only 25 and sincerely want to get better.

I also think a lot of folks do not appreciate what they actually do.

Markieff ranked 21 and Marcus ranks 39 amongst all PF's in PER last year. That is with them being used as bench players. As their minutes increase I expect their production will follow as well.

The one that I really like is Marcus and he is the one generally taking the beating from almost everyone. I see him as the better defender and extremely capable of getting off a quality mid range shot against almost anyone as the shot clock is going down. I have no problem with the ball in his hands at winning time as he is a willing passer as well. I expect big things from him this yea

Can we get the season started already.

I totally agree with this. I also agree with Vegas on this one:

http://arizonasports.com/41/1771527/Vegas-sportsbook-projects-Phoenix-Suns-to-win-425-games

The Phoenix Suns won 48 games last season, barely missing the playoffs after posting one of the best single-season turnarounds in league history.

But the Westgate SuperBook ... has projected the Suns to win 42.5 games.

I'd take the Over. They may not get to 48 again, but I'll be surprised if they don't reach at least the mid-40s.

... 42.5 wins, well that should put us in the top half of the league... an increase from last week when various odds makers had us as the 19th, 21st, and 23rd best team. Probably due to re-signing Bledsoe. I think they have us too low though I'm not as certain as I was last year that we'd surprise everyone. I'm thinking we'll win somewhere between 44 and 54 games depending on lots of factors - the biggest ones are probably Len's improvement and how well Hornacek can exploit our great depth at guard.

agreed.

only way they don't reach the over is if Bledsoe misses half the season again.

I agree Isaiah Thomas was a very underrated signing. The Suns have three PGs that can start in the NBA in Dragic, Bledsoe and Thomas. Now the Suns have the luxury of continually putting pressure on opposing defenses from the PG position. They all know how to get to the basket. Opposing defenses dare not try to take the ball out of one of their hands without it costing them dearly.

Going back through this thread with hindsight is simultaneously entertaining and very depressing. We were all waaaaaay off (including me advocating for Bosh in light of his medical issue today).

Just a train wreck of a thread from all involved. Let's never buy lottery tickets together.

How about over / under they lose at least half of the next 41 games?

How did this end up on this thread?

I didn't go back through the whole thread but at the end we were surprisingly unanimous that the team would be above 42.5 wins. Heck, who knows, we might all be right in that regard yet. In our last ten games I would imagine that people who bet below were have gotten a lot happier...

Prior to the season I really expected we'd win in the mid 50's. By the time the season started though I had serious doubts we'd go beyond the mid 40's. And now, I doubt we would have won 43 games even if this recent mess had not occurred. As it is, I think 40 is probably our ceiling.

I wonder what the Vegas line is on the game tonight... I think you have to give up at least 7 points to bet on Minny.
