McCown over Warner

If Josh McCown can put together another one or two excellent outings, he can make Warner's sideline stay permanent for the 2005 season.
The Cardinals are taking the stance that McCown and Warner are both working on one-year contracts. As one team source said, "The guy who does the job and keeps it gets a multiyear deal."

The Cardinals also have not ruled out drafting another quarterback in '06.

The highlighted text is the important part.

It's good to see someone is saying something intelligent like whoever does the best gets the job.

Great bit of journalism there..... Which possibility didn't he cover in that blurb???

Well, we will play them both and hopefully one will be better than the other. We then might offer that person a multi-year deal. OR.... We could just draft a QB with our HIGH 1st round pick that we will have.

Is Mort running for Congress?

In other news.....If Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald keep doing well, they will remain the #1 and #2 receivers on the team, over Bryant Johnson.....sources say.

Also.....if Antrell Rolle recovers from knee surgery and plays well he will again be the starter at CB....

It all makes sense to me. Josh,Warner or draft a guy. The only thing he left out was trade for a guy.
Mortenson son is 3rd string QB for the Arkansas Razorbacks. I think he is just a freshman.

Well he did say that he believes McCown will keep starting even though Warner is healthy didn't he?

I don't knowif it's much of a nugget. The "if" is a pretty big factor. He may not get those couple of more starts in place of Warner. The first line should read: "If he get's to start and can put together another..."

I read it to say that he believes Josh will start after the bye and unless McCown messes up he gets to keep the job the rest of the season. But after what we saw last year I wouldn't bet on any Cardinal QB starting more than the next game.

Lots of options at QB........

Both Josh and Kurt are going to be UFA's.

Aaron Brooks and Billy Volek are UFA's

Ramsey is probably going to be cut.

The Lions faces a decision with Harrington.

The Texans faces a decision with Carr.

The Chargers faces a decision with Rivers/Brees.

And then comes the rookies - lead by Leinart and Jacobs.

I don't want Aaron Brooks. He's just a clone of Jeff Blake.

I'd like a look at Carr if he's available. Even though our O-line sucks, it's caviar compared to what he has now.

Speaking of Mortenson his son may be the QB starter for the Arkansas Razorbacks this week against Georgia. the Razorbacks are sort of the Cardinals of the college ranks and our QB has been terrible. Mortenson has never thrown a pass in college football. Tune in as it will be on TV.
